We arrived at the hotel midday. Check in was pretty slow and there were a few problems with understanding of English!! Upon entering our room and drawing back the curtains, we were alerted by a 'swarm' of birds( I can't find any other words to describe them, as this is what they appeared like). Birds nests in every corner of the balcony!!!-, I couldn't believe it, we couldn't open the door in case we were attacked.-( Alfred Hitchcock movie came to mind).Having travelled with my disabled daughter who was frantic, I went to ask for a change of room. Reception were kind to oblige, but ALL the balconies were the same. To make matters worse they wouldn't do anything about the nests as they felt they were sacred!!. Glad we were only here for an overnight we proceeded to the restaurant for lunch. Food was mainly Turkish. This isn't usually a problem to me as we have a villa in Altinkum for the past 7 years and have become used to the food. However there were difficulties finding something that I could say we liked, rather than eating to keep from feeling hungry.
The best thing about the Hotel was the setting, right next to the beach, however a bus ride from the centre of Altinkum; and all depending what route it took,- the journey could have lasted between 15 minutes and half an hour or more. There was nothing else in the area, but the Hotel had an indoor swimming pool which was a plus. The gardens are very impressive and the setting of the hotel being beach-side were the best features of the Hotel. There were sun loungers close to the sea also. However unlike most other all inclusive hotels I've stayed in in Turkey, the waiters were not obliging by bringing your drinks!!
Next day there seemed to be an influx of executive Turkish people and at this stage I felt that I was unimportant as a guest as all the fuss was about them. In fact I had to stand at the outside bar for about 5minutes before being acknowledged as they were serving these people.
In general I went to view the hotel with the understanding that I would visit again at a later stage with family. I doubt very much that this will ever happen, as I felt the afore mentioned things would put me off from using this Hotel again and most definitely the birds!
