This Thompson owned holiday village is situated in a scenic location and on the beach. The complex is clean and the holiday reps do their best to try and entertain throughout the date, be it with pool side competition or singing and dancing in the evening, however 8pm Bingo is a tedium at its best and reminds you that even on a small Greek island that you can't escape the mindset of the Brits that take this game seriously!
The actual town area is small and contained and the restaurants in the vicinity are all of a standard Greek calibre and all walkable within minutes, however some restaurants will do that little bit more to get your business such as put you in a horse and cart to get to their restaurant! A nice touch but slightly showy being that the restaurant is less than 200metres from where they tout for your business.
The beach immediately to the rear of the Alykanas Village is clean and pretty but the sea is alarmingly void of sea life, I discovered this when snorkling and after an hour having only seen about 5 fish and a crab, but the water is crystal clear and with boat hire you can go right out and enjoy the tranquil waters.
I would advise hiring a car and investsigating the island as there are some amazingly beautiful coves just waiting to be discovered, you really are spoilt for scenic beauty. The hire cars may leave you wondering if they are road legal but they are cheap, they work and they get you around!
Rooms facing the pool will be louder due to day time competition and music blasted at various points...
