The service at San Marco's villa's isn't like a hotel. I dont believe its worthy of having four stars.
Don't expect rooms to be clean even though they are "cleaned" every day. If you don't answer the door for the cleaning ladies in the morning they simply won't tidy your room. Towels are refreshed twice a week.
Please note that 50% of the rooms have NO VIEW. They are dark and smell unfresh. We were given a dark room in the basement. I was very upset and the host gave us a room with a view. However, we had to pay extra for this. Customer friendly? No!
Theres a tiny kitchen with a burned electric stove, a fridge and sink. We mainly used it for our breakfast and didn't cook.
What we liked the best:
The pool was great, quiet, clean and there were only about six guests swimming at a time. It felt very private.
The view is great.
We also loved the fact that there were no kids.
What we liked the least:
Unfriendly local people, most restaurants and clubs on the island have been shut down because of the crisis. I'm sure this island used to be nice about ten years ago..but not today. It also didnt have a Greek feel to it either. The walk from the villas to town isn't ideal and has no sidewalks.
Food at the villas isnt great. Eat in town.
Other suggestions: if you are out for a short relaxing break: this place is great.
Do rent a car for one day to see the north of the island, and rent a quad for one day to visit the airport area and see the view at starbucks.
