I have never written a review before, but this is something I've been meaning to do since we visited in jan 2013.
Me and my husband had got ourselves a puppy a few months before we got married, and so started the difficulty with trying to find some where that will allow us to bring a 3month old puppy with us.
I stumbled across TOMS BARN website and thought it looked stunning however we both instantly thought somewhere so highly rated would not allow a puppy however I took a punted and emailed Marion.
A very quick and kindly response that instantly put our minds at rest. It's quite something for a owner to readily and warmly accepted such a young pup.

From the moment we arrived we were put to ease as we were nervous how our puppy would behave but John and Marion made sure we felt at home.

The barn was stunning, warm, comfortable, well equipped, fantastically located. A true haven.

John and Marion were friendly, accommodating, caring and take, quite rightly, an awful lot of pride in what they do.

We would 100% recommend and will 100% be returning however this time with a much larger dog!!!

All our love Pete & Morgen

Fantastic weeks stay with good weather and very little rain. Barn well equipped with everything you could possibly think of to make your break relaxing, enjoyable and a home away from home. Enjoyed lovely walks around the local area of which Dovedale must be our favorite.
The log stove was fab after a days walks to ward off the chill with a glass of wine.
First time in the peak District, but we will be back - thank you to our wonderful hosts Marion and John.

My husband and I stayed in Douglas' Barn for a long weekend and it was amazing! We had a lovely warm welcome from Tom and Marion with homemade cakes and spent the weekend exploring the derbyshire countryside (although we could have spent the whole time in the cottage!).

The barn itself is so well equipped, I don't think there is anything they didn't have. I can't add much more than the other reviewers have added other than to say 'go' - you won't regret it! It is a great example of how holiday cottages should be - no broken, mismatched crockery, high end electrical equipment and a wonderfully comfortable bed!

Room tip: The spiral staircase in Douglas's Barn would be difficult for anyone with mobility issues. Tom's Barn would be easier if that is the case.

A four day break at Tom's Barn is just not long enough. A truly wonderful place to stay, with absolutely every luxury provided. But this cottage deserves more than a five star rating, as it has little touches of thoughtfulness impossible to find elsewhere - the woodburner was lit on arrival; a tray (complete with starched traycloth) was set with teapot (and tea cosy of course), cups, and a fresh homemade date and walnut loaf; the scent of fresh lillies filled the sitting room; and by the bed a small vase of snowdrops. We half expected thick towels, dressing gowns, and a welcome pack of essentials but we certainly did not expect such attention to detail. But, the best thing for us was that we could bring along our labrador to share the holiday with us. Thank you Marion, thank you John - I hope you realise just how much pleasure you give to those who stay with you.

We were not able to arrange annual leave for the more usual Mon - Fri stay but as we were to find out, Marion & John will go out of their way to do whatever they can to please. We arrived to a warm welcome that made you feel instantly at home. We stayed in Douglas's barn and it was immaculate. The attention to detail was outstanding & we couldn't have wanted for anything. The heating was on, the lights were on, fresh flowers were in the lounge & bedroom and a tea tray awaited us with freshly baked lemon cake on it. We have never stayed somewhere where our first food shopping trip has been so easy. We didn't need eggs, butter, bread, milk, oil, sugar, tea, coffee, toilet rolls etc as these had already been thought of by Marion & John. The entire stay was wonderful and our only complaint was that we had to leave! To sum this place up...........perfect in every way!
