Scotty's Castle has architecture, some views and scrap cars/other building debris that create some interesting photo spots. However, it is a quite a drive from Furnace Creek and the tickets for the tour are rather expensive...I recommend doing a self-tour around the property. If you want to see everything in Death Valley check it out, otherwise it was eh...

Thank you for your balanced feedback. Scotty's Castle is an hour drive away from either Furnace Creek or Stovepipe Wells. It is in the northern part of Death Valley National Park and many other sights are in the southern part, such as Badwater, Artist's Drive and Dante's View. Visitors with a half day or less in the park generally stay in the south-central areas of the park.

However, for visitors with enough time, I recommend the one-hour House Tour ($15) plus the free self-guided exploration of the Scotty's Castle grounds and Visitor Center. -Abby Snow, Supervisory Park Ranger, Scotty's Castle, Death Valley National Park
