My husband and I stayed at the El Tovar July 4-7th. We loved every minute. Everything worked in our room ( I was worried after reading some of the earlier reviews). Our view was of the front but it was a short walk to the back porch to see the Canyon. We ate most of our meals at the Bright Angle Lodge to save money and their food was good. Eat early before 6:00 to avoid the long lines. We loved our trip but it will be our last as we had to drive from Indiana and put almost 4000 mi on our car. The Canyon is awesome and we took 2 bus tours to be sure we saw everything on the south rim. No mule trips for us---we are ages 58 and 60 and I weigh too much. One thing I noticed was very few disabled people and older people in wheelchairs. This trip is not for the disabled. It is for the hale and hearty as walking is a big part of this trip. I also noticed little children bored and some whining and acting up. I am glad we didn't take our sons on this trip when they were small.
