Received a great welcome at The Royal George which was memorable. We were shown the direction of our room and left to find it for ourselves. The rooms are exceptionally clean, functional and perfect for the location of this hotel. There was a vast range of basics like hot chocolate, welsh tea, soups, sugars, sweeteners and biscuits daily placed in your room and a free copy of The Independent also. Should you have an ipod, the tv base doubles as a player and your can have your tunes as you go about your business. We had a room on the ground floor looking out towards the mill, but this however was located right next to the service cupboard where the staff daily at 7.30am play the radio very loud as they prepare to service the rooms. Whether you are getting up for breakfast or not, this was not a welcome wake up call given we stayed for three days!! The layout of the room was simple and adequate, plenty of mirrors, and it's location was far enough from the road so that you don't hear the passing traffic. Seriously creaking floor boards from upstairs also make this a noisy noisy place in an otherwise serene location. To round off, breakfast was an interesting affair, after you give your order for your cooked breakfast, it's like a lottery what you will get. The food was tasty, the plates were hot and so too was the toast. But I have never ever been given half a piece of black pudding with my breakfast. All a bit random really....
