My lazy son & I stopped at Tantallon House on our road trip to Scotland. We arrived late in the evening in pouring rain to be greeted by Roger Ashman, the owner. He invited us in, showed us the rooms and introduced us to his owl...
The rooms were very nice and comfortable. The heating was off but there was an immediate offer to put it on if required. There was an electric heater in the room. Apparently the owners are keen to conserve fuel and have received merits for the work they have undertaken in saving energy.
The room was very quite at night and no noises from other guests. The view from the room was very nice too.
There is a full size snooker table on floor 3 if you are interested.
Roger directed us to a local pub for evening meal which was basic but adequate.
Breakfast: Roger provided us with a superb breakfast. Hot food, Hot plates. What else could one want? The breakfast was one of the best that we had whilst on our road trip and highly recommended.
Other guests arrived at Tantallon House and I listened as Roger told these other guest all about local busses and sights with a flowing knowledge. I got the impression he must have been a tour guide in a previous life.
The accommodation overall was excellent and good value for money. It is unfair to make comparisons but we stayed on Skye and paid more for accommodation, rubbish meals and an inhospitable host.
I have no reservation in recommending Tantallon House to you.
We had a room each (my son snores like a pig) and he was equally impressed.
