Anguilla or Turks & Caicos? Cuisinart or Cap Juluca? I spent hours and hours trying to decide which island to visit and where to stay. After a lot of research and suggestions from TA members (thank you so much), I decided on Anguilla and Cuisinart.
Here are my thoughts:
Anguillans: Gentle, kind, thoughtful and can’t do enough for you. Great customer service skills at Cuisinart and everywhere we went.
Funtime shared shuttle: I booked this through Cuisinart and we had wonderful experiences both when we arrived and departed. We ended up with a private transfer by chance on the way back due to some cancellations that Funtime received. If you can afford the private transfer, I suggest you book it. The men who drove the boat were fantastic! Thank you.
Car Rental: We rented a car through Cuisinart, from Avis. It was a Suzuki SX4, steering wheel on the left which I am used to. It was very, very easy to drive on the island and would highly recommend people rent a car.
Grounds: Beautiful. Just like the pictures on their website. Beautiful flowers, trees and plants everywhere. The grounds were very clean. The buildings were gorgeous.
Room: We stayed in a junior suite, 2nd floor. We had a clear view of St. Martin and Rendezvous Bay. Our room was recently renovated. It was huge, especially the bathroom. Wonderful bath products. I especially liked the shampoo and lemon soap. No shortage of towels. Large, flat screen TV with lots of channels. There was a small fridge in the room with items you can purchase. There was still room in the fridge for some small things that we bought at the grocery store. If you prefer, for a fee, they will gladly empty the fridge for you.
Food: Delicious! We thoroughly enjoyed breakfast each morning. There were lots of choices, eggs were cooked to order, and the staff was so nice. Coffee was way too strong for my liking but it was easy to water down. We ate a number of nights at the lobby bar. It was great. After a long day, it was nice to stay home at Cuisinart. The lobster BBQ on Tuesday night was unbelievably good. Delicious, sweet lobster that was cooked just right. Great service. I wish we booked it 2 nights instead of 1. Expensive, but well worth it. We saw Italia but never ate there. It was very pretty. We ordered room service 1 night and enjoyed that too.
Beach area: Beautiful. Soft, white sand. Small waves the entire time we were there. A bit of seaweed a few days but it wasn’t a problem. Big, beautiful towels. Free bottled water. Pretty umbrellas. I think the chairs need replacing but I suspect this is on Cuisinarts “to do” list already. If not, it needs to be.
Beach Bar: Wonderful. Sam, you make the best rum punch ever. Thanks so much!! We really liked the fact that you were there late afternoon when we first arrived since the beach seemed deserted at that time of day. We floated in the sea for 2 hours and loved it. A great start to our vacation.
I have to mention that we visited Cap Juluca too. I walked into the lobby and when I saw Maundays Bay, I was shocked!! I was in total awe at how beautiful it was. I have seen a lot of beaches in the Caribbean but never anything as beautiful as this. It just wasn’t the right choice of resort for us this trip. Cuisinart was and I would definitely return.
