We have not been to El Gaucho since last year but I am planning another trip to Aruba and I will absolutely be going to El Gaucho again. We took a cab from the Marriott and when we got there, the area looked a little shady. Nothing was open except the restaurant so it was a dead area. When we got there, they asked us to wait and said we could go across the street to their sister cigar bar. DON'T do this. It was a weird, dark, empty cigar bar and was creepy. We left and went back to the restaurant immediately. Although we had a reservation, we had to wait. When we eventually got to our table, we had probably the most amazing meal of our lives. We have eaten at every upscale steakhouse (The Palm, Morton's, Flemings, Ruth Chris, Smith & Wollensky, etc.) and this food was better than them all! The steaks were amazing, the sides were incredible. I know this sounds strange but even the white rice was delectable. The best part was the chimichurri (which I had never had) which is a garlic, herb blend that they serve you. I wanted to eat it with a fork. It was for sale and I stupidly did not buy any and I will be bringing back as much as I can carry next time I go. I tried to buy it online and they don't sell it there. I highly recommend this restaurant no matter where you stay in Aruba. The food will not disappoint.
