We stayed at Paradera Park for 5 nights late March. We arrived later than expected due to airport delays and Ingrid was more than happy to spend the time going over maps and giving us various tips. It was just perfect for us, since we prefer boutique hotels. It is situated in a residential area on a dead end street, and it is conveniently located to beaches and downtown area. However, you do need to rent a car.

This is an owner-occupied hotel. The grounds are meticulously kept. Although the island itself isn't very green, Paradera has truly made a "tropical oasis" with its lush gardens (flowering shrubs and plants are everywhere). Cabanas, hammocks and numerous palm trees add to the tropical ambiance.

We rented Unit 105 which was an end unit that was quite spacious and comfortable, and had an outside sitting area. Although the shower is on the small side, it was not an issue for us. The complimentary beach chairs, cooler and beach towels is a very nice touch. It was very quiet and peaceful. Luz, the housekeeper, was absolutely lovely and keeping the units and grounds spotless seems to be her #1 priority.

Some people have complained about mosquitoes. Believe me, I hate mosquitoes. With the constant trade winds we did not experience as many as we have on other islands. You always have the option of turning on the a/c and ceiling fan.

In terms of negatives, I would just say that one of the mattresses in our unit seemed to be uncomfortable. Since we had a unit with 3 singles (2 of which were together to make a double), I switched them around and that did the trick.

This was our first visit to Aruba and to Paradera Park...and we will be reserving a room for next year. Their website states "Our aim is to maintain our resort, gardens and Apartments in a clean and excellent condition offering high quality accommodation and facilities to our guests at affordable prices" -- kudos go out to Ingrid, Hank and Deb! Well done!!!

Tips: Remember to pack packets of sugar and pick up coffee and cream for the morning. We highly recommend Papiamento Restaurant - great food, ambiance and service. Boca Catalina and Arashi beach had great snorkeling.

Number one for a good reason - Great place

We, a couple from Ontario, Canada, have just returned from a week at Paradera Park Apartments - btw March 30 and April 5, 2008.
It was an excellent experience - we think of going back when possible.
My husband and I stayed in one of the Deluxe Studio Apartments:
-- Peaceful and quite
-- Spacious and very clean
-- Lots of closet space
-- Well equipped kitchen
-- TV, phone, air conditioner, ceiling fan
-- Good bath towels
The housekeeping staff does a superior job of keeping both the apartments and the backyard very clean and tidy.
The back yard is a piece of tropical paradise, with a pool and lush plants -- good place to hang around for kids and adults alike.
The property is about 10 min, off the beaches by car. The hotel supplies beach chairs and towels and a big cooler.
We recommend renting a car from Value Rent - ask the owners to arrange it before you arrive, so that a rep of the car rental is waiting for you at the airport.
As for eating out, beside the restaurants that are found in the flyers and brochures (Texas de Brazil Steakhouse, Flying Fishbone and Italian Gourmet are excellent) , be sure to visit Gostoso's, a few min drive from Paradera Park – reasonably priced and just as good as the others. Also, in the High-rise hotels area, there are plenty of pizza and coffee shops for quick bytes.
Next time we go back to Aruba, we will call Paradera Park Apartments again.

thanks for the wonderful time at your apartments. We were there from march 6-11th and we had a wonderful time. Having coolers for guests is a simple and thoughtful thing that probably saved us roving drinkers a small
fortune. :) We simply loaded up on drinks and bananas and covered as many beaches as we could. Not being confined to a resort also added to our trip immeasurably, allowing us to see the National Park, east coast of the island, and all sorts of things that all the visitors to the big resorts never see. Fantastic. Debbie's recommendations, including the Red Bull/Kitesurfing party at the Fisherman's Huts (had a beer with Hank) were spot on and we had a blast.
While I consider the Palm Beach resorts to be among the biggest tourist traps I have ever seen, staying at your apartments
and driving allowed us to take advantage of the beaches there, yet not feel confined to that area. I would recommend your apartments to anyone who doesn't need a lot of catering, though I suspect you would be available for that as well.

Keep up the great work. We will stay nowhere else on your
island...until we
buy a house there, of course...

Paradera Park Apartments - Great, As Advertised...

Paradera Park

Our family (including two hard-to-please teens) just returned from a wonderful five days at Paradera Park Apartments (PP).

As many fellow reviewers have noted, this is an excellent, reasonably priced location/accomodation for enjoying all that Aruba has to offer.

Despite it not being right on/next to the beach, you are not far from the coast where the beaches are. You're also close to the Palm Beach touristy area and not far from Oranjestad, either.

There is a nice pool at PP that you can cool off in any time you like...

Of special note, the landscaping at PP is lush and beautiful - the owners call it 'tropical paradise,' and I don't disagree. It's easy to feel relaxed in the quiet surroundings. I took advantage of the on-site hammocks a couple of times and curled up with a book and napped.

Although you feel like you're in paradise, the satellite tv with quite a few stations and on-site wifi let you keep in touch with the outside world, if you so desire.

We highly recommend renting a car if you stay here. They advise going with Value Rent a Car, which we did. Miguel from Value met us right after we exited the baggage claim area and drove us to Value's location - about 10 minutes from the Airport and approximately 5 minutes to PP - an easy drive with only a couple of turns.

We rented a Camry - $240 per week and it had already had 40K+ miles on the odometer - pretty high for a rental, especially one on a small island. The brakes squeaked a bit & it already had a few scratches on it. Consider renting from someone else, but I have no idea who to advise. I saw several on-site rental companies at Reina Beatrix Airport, but only recall Hertz as one of these.

Expect hot, but dry weather (we were told Nov/Dec is rainy season). The tradewinds were a welcome and pleasant surprise. Definitely helped cool things off. PP room had fans and a couple of AC units (we were in #113). Also, nice porch with table for eating breakfast, TV with a wide selection of channels and a well-stocked kitchen, fridge & microwave.

Check out Ling's and SuperFood supermarkets. Both are located very close to each other - not far from LowRise Hotel area. We arrived over Easter holiday and went to one of the smaller, local markets first. Prices seemed high and there was a lack of selection.

Couple of food recommendations off the beaten path - both are in same small strip mall on the way to beach area (Palm Beach - near HighRise Hotel district). Linda's for pancakes and pizza and Bingo for salads and fresh fish (delicious Grouper dish). In general, restaurants in Aruba are pricey.

Don't forget the sunscreen! Sun is very powerful...

Cheap place to purchase bottled water = McDonald's.

Have a great time in Aruba and by all means, stay at PP!

Give Ingrid, Debby and Henk at PP our best...

Can't say enough wonderful things about Paradera Park. Debbie and Hank were awesone - met us with a beer and drink in hand for us. They helped us find some good spots to eat and the dive shop they recommended was fantastic.

The room was perfect - talk about spotless! My husband and I would dive in the morning and then come back and spend most of the afternoon parked by the pool relaxing, taking a nap or checking e-mail with the use of their wireless. We will definitley be back.
