“Fanatstic holiday at the Divi!”

Divi Aruba All-Inclusive Beach Resort

10/10 found this review helpful

We stayed at the Divi for 2 weeks in August, and loved every minute of it! Our room was spacious, clean and had a lovely big balcony. After reading some of the reviews here we were a bit worried about the rooms but ours was more than adequate. Housekeeping came daily, and left new towels etc.

I cannot fault the food - We ate at the buffet every morning for breakfast and usually lunch unless we were out and about. The Red Parrot was definately our favourite, although the evening buffet was great too. Staff were lovely, particularly Juan and Erwin. We ate at Paparazzi once, but didn't really enjoy it. We only ate at Ginger once at the end of our trip, but wished we had been before as the food was lovely!

I was really pleased that we booked the Divi - as one other reviewer mentioned the Tam felt a bit like a holiday camp, more kids, noise etc. We never ate at the buffet there so I can't comment but I did feel that the bar staff were not as friendly, and service was definately slower. That said, it was good to have the option to use the facilities at both hotels.

We managed to fit quite a lot into our trip (in between lying on teh gorgeous beach and swimming in the sea..) - went out on a jet ski, hired a jeep and went around the island, took a day trip to De Palm Island and went for dinner at the Flying Fishbone. (This place is wonderful - quite expensive but food was great and its very romantic). We went to the Alhambra a couple of times too and managed to win some money! We went to a casino in the high rise area too.

I am so glad that we stayed in the low rise area, and not in the high bit as it just seemed to big and busy. I loved being beside the beach and chilling out like it should be in the Carribean!

The hotel staff were always friendly and helpful. The only thing I didn't like was having to queue to make reservations for restaraunts, but it wasn't really a big deal. The other issue I had was people reserving the sunbeds every morning. We were out by 9am most days and almost all were taken by then! That is towels on each bed but no one on them! I hate doing this but we ended up doing it too or else we wouldn't have managed to get a bed with some shade. Small things really.

We loved Aruba and will definately go back. I would reccommend the Divi to anyone! You will have a great time!

“Divi was Paradise”

Divi Aruba All-Inclusive Beach Resort

We enjoyed prett much everything about our 5 day stay at the Divi.

Beach - It is located on a beautiful stretch of white beach and clear blue-green water. We struggled to make ourselves do anything else but relax under our palapa and swim in the ocean. We are early risers and had no problem getting a palapa but if you slept in it was probably difficult. When returned to beach in late afernoons again had no problem.

Rooms - I requested a specific room and got it. We arrived an hour before check in and our room was available. We stayed in a 3rd floor Veranda room. Considered gardenview but have great view of beach and ocean over the palm trees. One king bed. Room very clean and more than enough for us. Reviews here had me expecting a lot less from the room. Balcony was enourmous and private. Very old but functioning whirlpool tub that was a bit hard to get into. Housekeeping always timely.

Food - We ate dinner at a la cartes every night. No problems making reservations. We very much enjoyed all three. My husband liked Paparazzi the best and I liked Ginger the best (good atmosphere). The buffets are yes below average but many other options. Pizza at snack bar very good. The thin crust is actually snack size but the thick crust can feed two a meal! Additional snacks at Tams snack bar not worth it unless you have kids. Loved the soft serve ice cream. Drinks were strong and delicious! Didn't have any of these flies/birds issues I kept reading about but there is always the option to eat inside.

Staff - Everyone was really friendly. Sometimes they seemed short staffed. With the exception of a couple bartenders who seemed indifferent (but not rude) staff went out of their way for us.

Weather - We were there during when Felix brushed by and dropped some rain. Within a couple hours after rain stopped staff had the place looking spotless and the seaweed on the beach was cleaned up. No problems whatsoever. Weather beautiful with just enough breeze to keep the high temps comfortable. Was surprised at how much I could feel the humidity but that was probably just because of Felix.

Tam - While we much prefered the laid back atmosphere at the Divi I was surprised by how nice the Tam was. Most reviewers say that the Divi is by far nicer but I didn't think there was that nig of a difference except for the beach area at Divi is much nicer. Of course I didn't get to see inside any rooms at the Tam

Overall very pleased that we have found Aruba. Will definitly be going there again. It is a little piece of paradise.

My husband and family stay at Divi Resorts and it is on my Top 5 vacation list!!!

The rooms are a little outdated but WE were never in our room but for shower and sleep . The maid service is great never was without anything... they do have double sinks in the bathroom which was great and a lovey balcony which looks out to the beach and we had a gardenview room and was able to see the beach with no problem... The food was good and they had a good variety, we didn't eat at the restaurant as you had to reserve dinner which I heard the food was really good... To go downtown where all the club scene It's a bus drive away or you could easily walk downtown if you dont mind walking about 10-15blocks...

The Divi is consider the "lowrise" resorts which means 3 stars or lower... if that's the case I prefer "lowrise" because the beach wasn't crowded but a nice crowd, we could get chairs, towels whateva anytime of the day with no wait and the beach itself is absolutely OUT Of This WORLD!!! the ambiance is GREAT!!! sunset.... GREAT.... lovely beach... they had live entertainment every night on the beach different kinds of music... It's a casino a few blocks from the resort that also had entertainment... and actually one of my friends won a couple of grand while we were there... weekdays seems to be hott in the casino but the weekend everyone was complaining about winning anything... I don't gamble!

Tamirjn was okay it's right next door to Divi which we also have access to that resort we visited them once but it was way too many kids over there so we chillled at Divi most of our stay... the drinks were great the staff was great... It was an overall fabulous trip!

We went on one of the "party boats" which are docked near the "highrise" resorts which are considered 3+ stars and it was overcrowded!!! it was so many people on the beach that it looked like they didn't have any elbow room!!! now if you like crowds like that you would probably prefer "highrise" compared to "lowrise" as it seemed like alot of people stayed on that end oppose to our end....and they had alot of boat activity scuba, kayak etc.

Next time we plan on staying longer!

Great for couples, familiess but not so great for singles.

Wow ! is all I can say. Well, not quite, have quite a few more compliments to make. We stayed at the Divi Aruba during August 2007, having read the reviews. We were not disappointed. I was concerned before we went that one room (even with two queen size beds) would not be big enough for us, being two adults and two older teenagers. So we opted for two rooms. We had a king size bed and the teenagers were given a queen size bed each and we had interconnecting rooms. The rooms were clean and serviced everyday but I must admit could do with a little updating (especially the bathrooms) but they were adequate.
The food was great, the buffet was very good but the Red Parrot was excellent.
You do get birds flying around the buffet outdoor seating area but you just shoo them away and if they are a problem, eat indoors!
All the staff are very helpful, polite and friendly. Could not fault them. Filo, the Conceirge always had a smile for you as did Beatrix on Reception.
We travelled up to the high rise area and walked back along the beach (2 hour walk) and the beach at the Divi is by far the best.
The beach at the Tamarijn was awful. It looks good on the photos but the front is so rocky. The rooms at the Tam open out directly on to the beach with the boardwalk about 5 yards in front and then the rocks. You can use the facilities at the Tam but there is not much to go for. It was like a Butlins holiday camp. They do have the Pool Tables, Climbing Wall and Watersports that are not at the Divi but apart from that the food was awful. I would suggest giving the Papparrazi (italian) a miss as the air conditioning is on freeze mode and they will not adjust it (despite complaints) we left as our food quickly went cold.

We noticed that a lot of people staying at the Tam would come down to the Divi first thing in the morning, for breakfast and stay all day. It was these people who were reserving the beach sunbeds. Although we did not like doing it, we ended up reserving our own beds towards the end just to make sure we had one. What annoyed us was the people who would reserve 6 to 8 beds all day and only had only person minding the lot.

The entertainment at the Divi was a band or singer on before 9, then the local dancers performed and then a Disco. However, the DJ would play the same playlist from his laptop every night and if I hear the Macarana or the Cha Cha slide one more time I will scream!

We met some wonderful people and had a great stay.
The Hurrican Dean struck Jamaica whilst we were there and we just experienced one rainy day, two cloudy days and the sea was rough, which was lucky. However, on the second week we got a Tornedo, which was huge, or so we thought as have never experienced one before. The storm lasted for 5 hours and we all took shelter in the hotel Lobby which was flooded. It did not dampen our spirits though as the bar was still open and there were actually people still seated around the beach bar!
When we arrived home Hurricane Felix struck the island, so we were really lucky.

We also done a few dive trips and the Antilla is definately worth seeing, even by snorkeling. The first dive we went on, was a disaster, even though I won't mention the dive company, we would never go back and actually cancelled the rest of our trips and re-arranged with another Scuba Diving Company. We went with Unique Sports of Aruba then and they were brilliant. Really looked after us and restored our confidence. Brilliant!
Meals out, we went to Driftwood in the Town, a seafood restaurant which was nice but by far the best was Madame Janettes. Absolutely fantastic. Massive rack of lamb and melt in the mouth steaks to die for.

All in all a fantastic holiday and would definately go back and would recommend to anybody.

We recently stayed at the Divi Aruba and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. This was quite possibly the best vacation ever for us. We've done a couple of cruises and up till now thought they couldn't be topped. The accommodations were good with a nice room with balcony overlooking the beautiful multi-shaded blue and green waters and white sand beach. The available food in the buffets and restaurants was very good. The bars were well stocked and the drinks were usually pretty good. The service staff was quite friendly ,always courteous ,and some quite entertaining. The casino was a short walk away and we found that to be very convenient also since we do like to gamble a bit. We celebrated our 34th anniversary while we were there and it was kind of special being amongst all the honeymoon couples who were just beginning their journey together. Though we did witness a few people with some problems with their arrangements we did not have any problems with our own. We are looking forward to visiting Aruba again and will definitely consider staying at the Divi again.
