My family (two girls aged 11 and 8) my husband (very keen golfer) and I visited this resort on 15th October for 10nights. We also went with some friends with two very young children (1 and 3) and shared a super 4 bedroom deluxe villa on the 16th fairway.
The weather was good and the villa was fantastic. There was 9 of us all together and we all had our own bathroom and privacy. Good aircon and lovely touches such as bathrobes, creams and shampoos.
We loved the maid service and Catherine our maid was so sweet and helpful. She would prepare lunch daily, clean (and boy were we messy!) and wash and iron for us daily.
The pool was cleaned regularly and we spent much of our time chilling around our own pool.
We were a little exposed to the golfers on the green but that proved great delight to the kids when their daddy's passed by dailey. My husband loved the golf and found the course quite tricky on the long par 3's (plays off 16). We used the main pool area which was quite quiet but the pool was a good size for exercise swimming!
I found the cost of the yoga and airobics, pilatis far to high to warrent taking exercise seriously on holiday (so I didnt!)
YOu need to hire a car to go to the supermarket which was well stocked with UK brands.
We used Crystal Cove beach and I was glad we hadnt stayed there...the beach was minimal and very poor compared to the likes of Almond Beach, Crane Beach.
We ate out on several occasions
Tides: Just south of the hotel, 5 mins drive. Lovely setting and restaurant, on a wooden deck right on the water, with trees supporting the deck. Great service=. Lovely meal beautifully presented and great with the children (scrummy milkshakes and smoothies served in fishy plastic glasses for the children)
Calabazza: South of Sandy Lane outside Holetown. Again, lovely setting and uncovered overhead when dry Provbly the one I least favoured . Portions quite large I found.
Lone Star... again beautiful this one is RIGHT on the beach and the kids can play on the sand. The waiters are dressed in overalls (coz it used to be a mechanics yard) but please dont let that deter you. Food was the best for the kids (burgers, fish etc) and couldnt fault the service or our meal..
The Cliffe..having been to Barbados 3 times I was desparate to sample this exclusive restaurant although I had been told it was overated....I wasnt disappointed. Could have got a better table but the service and the food was THE BEST. and not THAT expensive.. we even took a menu as a momento.
La Mer... by Almond beach village and set in Port St Charles. Delightful enclosed harbour with beautiful yaughts again food and presentation excellent. Great to watch the massive fish swimming by the side of you.
Overall a fab time had by the parents...very relaxing (just lacking in moscito repellent") My girls got a little bored but we could have rectified that by more trips to more beaches..instead we chose to make full use of our facilities and stay on site.
I would return for an adults holiday and only again with the kids if we went with another family or we took our girls friends with us.
I could recommend any of these without hesitation
