My boyfriend and I were looking for a budget friendly hotel with amazing views. and that's what we got. i've read numerous reviews on tripadvisor and everything that i've read turned out to be true. yes, you hear the noise from busy streets (cars honking mostly) and you also can hear the big waves. It's pretty loud at times but once you close the balcony doors, the sound of the waves get blocked out. and we didn't really mind it that much. it was very clean to my surprise. i wasn't' really expecting it to be that clean when i first arrived at coral mist.
the kitchen was in great shape and it had all the pots/pans and utensils for you to use. only thing i wasn't too happy about was the towels. they felt very old and damp all the time even though they changed them quite frequently. it wasn't pleasant to use them at all.. but the beach towels were in perfect condition.

the hotel is located very close to the accra beach that we really loved. we've tried some other beaches by mullins beach in the west coast and we've also tried miami beach in the south. but accra beach was the best. all of the beaches are beautiful but the sand at accra was the softest. the west coast beaches that we've tried had very rough sand so we couldn't even try to go inside the water. there were tone of rocks and broken seashells, we didn't want to risk it. Miami beach had slightly rougher sand than accra beach but once we got in the water it felt very soft like accra beach.

overall barbados is beautiful but the people didn't seem to be that friendly.. i liked the hotel but if i wasn't under a strict budget i would have definitely wanted to try other hotels that offer breakfast buffet & better service..

My daughter and I spent a fortnight at this hotel in early May. On arrival, we were pleasantly surprised to be upgraded from a one bedroom to a two bedroom apartment equipped with two bathrooms. The lounge, balcony and master bedroom overlooked the sea and a narrow but beautiful beach. Whilst some guests have complained about needing ear plugs, we have relished the close proximity of the waves and all it entails - sights, pervasive smell and sounds of the sea. The advantages offered by this hotel include peace and quiet, the absence of hawkers and jetskiers, an extremely friendly staff. Most days, we went to Sandy Beach, a short walk from the hotel, where you can hire a deckchair and swim in a calmer lagoon. If you wish to discover the island's aquatic fauna and flora, look no further. In Sandy Bay, is moored Scotch 'N' Soda, a nice cabin cruiser, whose owner and captain is one of the most experienced divers in Barbados. His infinite patience and vast experience will cater for all needs - the total novice's as well as the most seasoned diver's. My daughter now claims that the highlights of her holiday were befriending the turtles of Sandy Bay and being gently initiated to diving by Ram. To conclude, the only drawbacks of Coral Mist were the lift's state of disrepair and the absence of a safe in the apartment. However, as the security guard was there to give a willing hand with the luggage on checking out and Reception offers individual safes, we were not seriously inconvenienced. We hope to return next year.

high river, ab.
28 Apr 2009 | Trip type: Family

We visited for a week with our daughter, son-in-law and our six month old granddaughter. They were coming from London, Engl. we're from high river, Ab., so it was a "meet in the middle" trip.
The hotel is on the south shore, close to the big B grocery for supplies (solid and liquid). We had a 2 bedroom unit on the fourth floor, which was good for views, but terrible for access. there's an elevator on site, but while we were there it wasn't operative 1/2 the time, which caused major problems lugging baby stuff and carriages up and down 4 floors. It was still not working when we left, and we got pretty tired of " the technician is assessing the problem" excuse on a daily basis.
The very small pool was ok, and they share a second pool with the Blue orchid sister hotel next door. That was lucky, as the beach have disappeared! Even during our week there the beach dropped another 6 inches, under the heavy wave action.
If you have small children or no love for fighting waves, better check out the Coral Sands down the road, which has a coral reef breakwater, which protects their beach, or go to the west side, where the surf pound hasn't sucked away the beach so much. Coral Mist badly needs a breakwater to provide beach protecion, and low trauma swimming.
We made breakfast and lunch in the room, and went out for dinner most nights. Restauraunts were plentifull, but pricy, like most Barbados supplies. Mid level dinners for the 4 of us usually broke $80 U.S.
Berts is a good sports bar 2 blocks away.
New York Pizza made great food for pickup 4 blocks west at the Rockley beach mall.
Just Grillin is an excellent low frills seafood place, also at Rockley mall.
Ackee Tree roti's were close as well, for a good west indian equivalent to NA burgers. Chefette is the Barbados low end equivalent to Mcdonalds. Price is right, but their food quality is not up to MCD.
Coral Mist has a small restaurant on site, but we didn't try it
Nice hotel touches were a recently added fitness center, and a small bookexchange. Wifi is free in lobby, or $5 / hr in room from outside supplier. Bedrooms were A/C; LR not, which was hot.
Road noise wasn't an issue for us us. We stayed in back apt. and heard little, although a ground floor room might have changed our opinion. Wave sound is dramatic; you'd better like wave noise if you're in the front BR.
Staff were very nice, and aside from the elevator issue, tried their best to be helpfull.
If we were going back to Barbados(and we're not- it's just too far away, and too humid for us.), we'd look at the Coral Sands, or a couple of the condo units in the St. Lawrence Gap. We'd thought the gap would be too noisy for our baby, but it seemed fine at the east end, where there are several condo rentals.
We liked; staff, room, general locale close to attractions.
We didn't like: dead elevator with 4th floor room, lack of beach, heavy wave action at beach, which precluded snorkeling.

We stayed recently at this hotel for a week. Most of what has been said already applies. Hotel was well kept and clean. We had a ground floor room virtually on the beach which was fantastic for the view and convenience during the day, but like some of the previous reviewers we too found the sea crashing against the rocks very noisy all night. The room was fine a lot bigger than we thought it was going to be with a full kitchen, lounge area, bedroom and bathroom - think this was a superior room as some of the others near us didnt have a seperate lounge area. Location for this hotel was perfect (apart from the noisy sea!) Although it is on the main road we were not bothered by road noise and loved the convenience of having local buses stopping almost outside, which gave great access to the rest of the island. You can go anywhere for 1.50 Barbadian (50p to fellow Brits). Anyone with a bit of adventure in them must take a reggae bus just once it was an experience!! Oistins really is not to be missed, a tourist attraction without commercialism, just enjoy the atmosphere with the locals - brilliant, I hope they never change it. Would recommend Berts for a casual meal out (2 mins walk) - made a change to be outnumbered by Canadians watching Ice Hockey of all things instead of Brits watching the footie! Bert sits at the bar most nights, but he runs a very slick operation with good food and efficient service. Dont be put off by the exterior it has a lovely outdoor eating area and good atmosphere. We went to Champers too as our treat - prices reflect the type of restaurant it is, but it has a fantastic setting overlooking the sea and it felt like a special night out.

Just returned after a week at the Coral Mist...... Not sure if I should begin with the plus's or Negatives! The POSITIVES are surely the staff, the friendliest bunch you'll ever meet. The hotel is very clean and the location ( to the beach ) is perfect. The NEGATIVES are it's location to the steert directly out front. In this hotel the rooms designed so that they have frontages on both the street side and beach side. The fact that they do not have any traditional glass windows on the street side ( just louvers which cannot be closed ) will be the reason for constant car noise ( they love thier horns in Barbados ) until 2pm and starts at 5am, I love the sound of the ocean but would like to be able to turn if off if I choose to. The sound of the ocean is loud a clear due to the 1" gaps below the french doors leading to the balcony which only adds the contant noise in every room.

I love Barbaos but am looking for another place where I can every some peace and QUITE.
