We stayed for a week in early feburary 09. We enjoyed the hotel, and found it was exactly what we needed and wanted. The room was comfortable and clean, but simple. This is not a 5 star hotel by any means, but if you plan on spending the time diving or otherwise not sitting around the hotel it will suit you fine. The kitchen was a sink/fridge/hot plate with basic pots and utensils. The bathroom was simple and clean.

Don't expect amenities like fancy soaps or pillow mints. The house keeping came every other day and was kind of quirky. For instance they took our wet bath mat, and didn't replace it. I am sure that had we asked the staff would've taken care of it.

The staff was very helpful, the bar was nice for beers or morning coffee but there are better restaraunts in town for real meals.

The hotel is on the outskirts of Kralendijk, on the way out of town, but still only a few minutes to downtown.

We don't dive, but their dive shop seemed adequate and the hotel is only a mile or two from several very nice and accessible dive sites. Check out the caves across the street from the hotel, look for the obelisk and follow the path. its an interesting, if unmarked spot.

I would absolutely recommend the Caribeean Club Bonaire if you are looking for simple accomodations at a good price. If you want 5 stars, and resort amenities check out Divi or one of the resort style hotels in town. We would absolutely stay there again.

Caribbean Club Bonaire is an excellent hotel for those of us who aren't looking to lose tons of money on extravagance and luxury. We stayed for 1 week and at $80/night you couldn't ask for anything better. The rooms are well done (ours had a small fridge, little kitcheonette, etc) and a safe, nice shower/bathrooms. As you would expect with a budget hotel, there are areas that could improve: landscapring, paint, more frequent room cleaning, etc. but overall it was a exceptional place for the value. It included breakfast every morning, there are 3 pools, it's right by a nice dive/snorkel spot, and the sunsets are killer.

More than anything, the people that work at Caribbean Club are as good as you'll find: super friendly, hard working, and they'll help their guests with whatever you ask (dinner reservations, finding the best beaches, car rentals...anything we asked for help with they were able to accommodate).

One important thing to know: Caribbean Club is a 5 minute drive outside of town (which was nice on New Years Eve since I'm sure we escaped the fireworks going off at 4 am...) but it does require a scooter, rental car or taxi to get to town. For the most part, almost everyone on Bonaire has a rental car to get around to the different dive spots/beaches, but it's important to know.

Big fans of Caribbean Club, if we go back to Bonaire we'll stay there again for sure.

Happy Travels!

  • Liked — great value for the money and the friendly staff
  • Disliked — it needs some work and they could do a better job cleaning rooms, changing towels, etc.

Stayed for almost a month at the Caribbean Club Bonaire. I could not have asked for a better hotel experience! While the rooms are undergoing a much-needed renovation at the moment, the staff was incredibly responsive and very friendly! Caribbean Club is partnered with Buddy Dive, so you have complete access to all Buddy Dive events and perks, including the drive-thru tank refill stations, but it is far enough away from the crowds that you can unwind after a long day of diving. CCB is very very close to all the northern diving sites, and is only 10 minutes from downtown Kralendijk! With it's own 24-hr tank access, and extremely accessible/knowledgeable diving staff, you can truly have a dive vacation to chalk up in the history books at CCB. Other great perks included a wonderful and reasonable hotel restaurant, on-site fully stocked dive shop, and free internet access for guests. The manager's weekly rum punch party was also one of the tastiest in town... not like I sampled the lot of them or anything like that.... enjoy your stay!!!

  • Liked — Welcoming staff!
  • Disliked — The rooms were a little sparse... but they are getting renovated!

We booked Caribbean Club 3 through sunbeltbonaire.com. We stayed for a week and paid about $250/night. It is in Sabadeco 15 minutes northwest of Kralendijk. The site was great for us as it near a few good snorkel sites, and is only a short walk to Oil Slick. (Oil Slick has the additional benefit of has rock platforms about 10 feet above water that our family jumped and dove off.) It is about a 5 minute drive to Andrea I and II which were our favorite sites for many reasons, not the least of which was swimming with the sea turtles.

The house/condo itself has beautiful gardens which were frequented by many colorful birds, so we were entertained while ate meals and lounged on the porch. The children’s bedroom (2bed/2ba) was separated by a courtyard, again with beautiful garden, where we hung our clothes to dry. The feel of the condo is much more European than American.

The kitchen did not have a proper oven, and for some reason it took a long time to boil water on the stove even though the gas flame looked adequate. The refrigerator was good, as was the washing machine. No electric dryer, the Bonaire Sun takes care of the drying pretty well.

The bedrooms and TV room all had air conditioning units that you turn off when you leave the house. The kitchen and living room had no units, so that was a minor inconvenience. The TV room had a good office area with both wireless and hardwire connectivity.

The condo has its own wonderful private pool of adequate size. The pool and the grounds are very well tended. The maid only comes on Thursdays which was fine by us, there were plenty of towels, and we really didn't use many towels.

Next door is Hilltop resort with an unimpressive breakfast buffet. They have a small Buddy Dive shop that was handy because we picked up anti-fog spray for our masks.

The desert island is beautiful, and our 8-day stay was awesome. We had to drag out our 8 and 12 years old daughters who wanted to stay. I recommend Caribbean Club 3, especially for people like us who go out multiple times a day, and need a haven to come back to throughout the day.

My husband and I stayed at the Caribbean Club for a week as part of a dive package through a dive-specific travel agent. The Caribbean Club is a little farther north on the island than most of the other hotels, but that really doesn't matter since you should have a rental truck anyway to enjoy the shore diving (which is phenomenal, by the way). Also nice was that one of our favorite dive sites was located just outside the hotel.

Our "deluxe" room had a separate bedroom / living room with a kitchenette and a porch with a hammock. Never used it much though as we spent most of the time out diving. Enjoyed the quiet and even made some friends with some neighborhood cats that frequent the area.

My one complaint (which was in another review) was that they used two sets of twin sheets on a double-sized bed. Kind of annoying, but it really was small compared to the perks. The restraunt / bar on the premises was great, we got a cooked-to-order breakfast included in our package each morning, the waitress soon came to know us by name. Also enjoyed a cold beer at the bar each night after a long day of diving.

The onsite dive operator, Hilltop Divers, is really a satellite of the larger Buddy Dive just down the road. Quite convienent, Buddy Dive was beyond great, with the free Nitrox upgrade and unlimited drive-through tank refills. Our last day there we also booked a mangrove kayaking tour through Buddy Dive, which I would also recommend.
