We (wife and son) just returned from a delightful week at The Harbour Village. Our 2 bedroom ocean front suite was expensive but well worth it. The suite were spacious and very well maintained as was the beach and the rest of the property. A nice bonus was that we were able to check immediately upon arrival at 6am. The hotel emptied out after the New Years rush so early checkin may not be available at other times. Although we were there during a lull Harbour Village is large enough so it probably wouldn't be crowded even at full occupancy.
The concierge staff was very helpful and suggested some great restaurants such as Mona Lisa, Patagonia, Vespucci, Capriccio and Donatella. The only "sour" restaurant was the Lion's Den at Buddy Dive. It was over priced and of dubious quality.
The dive operator at Harbour Village, Great Adventures, was first rate. The dive masters, particularly Alfonso, were knowledgable and helpful.
We are planning to go back next year.

We had been on a 2 week haul around Peru and Ecuador and booked this as a place to wind back down in the sun.
We found it was just what we needed with good facilities (even if the sand for the beach was imported) as long as you were not into serious diving which is one of Bonaire's selling points.
If you want to relax within a five minute ride of loads of good restaurants - the one at the resort is only average plus - this is the place for you.
Bonaire is much quieter ie civilised than Aruba or Curacao but does cost a bit more; in our opinion it was worth it.
If you do go to Bonaire, please visit and support the Donkey Sanctuary beside the airport; they will appreciate your visit.

REASON FOR TRIP: Honeymoon, Diving Trip, Relaxation

STAFF: excellent and helpful, they are here to please

ROOMS: spacious, very clean, tile floors, great water pressure in shower, tub fits two average sized people, separate shower, free high speed internet access, in the one br suite I recommend downstairs, your deck will be a bit bigger most likely and you can just walk out to the beach, IT'S RIGHT THERE!!!

NON-DIVERS: not sure if you will LOVE it like we did. You should consult with a non-diver, not me, I'm biased b/c of the amazing diving.

DIVERS: there is a great dive shop that is connected to HV. Boats go out at 9, 11 and 2. House dive is awesome and includes a small wreck and a great reef - eels, rays, amazing corals, etc etc etc. Great for a night dive, was my first - LOVED IT. As for shore diving - make sure you know something about shore diving to get the maximum enjoyment out of this trip. We didn't know to have booties - MISTAKE. I was flailing around like a tipped over turtle at 1000 steps, very embarrassing, the snorkelers were laughing - no good... Anyway, the hotel is SO ACCOMODATING - they have key-operated lockers so you can access your gear at any time of night or day, there are always tanks, and they will load your rental truck for you. We had them load up 6 tanks, and we just took off. Dive sites all over the place on this island.

I can't think of one thing I would have had this place do differently. They were just so kind and helpful. I don't remember the last time I stayed in a room that was as comfortable, and newly decorated (updated looking, you know?).

The restaurant is pretty good, we ate there at least once each day.

Note: the town is a 25 minute walk, better to access via taxi or water taxi if you ask me. It's good to go there to get to the restaurants I guess, and some souvenir shopping if that's your thing.

Most of all, I think I loved this place because the hotel really has done a great job of taking care of the little things with divers in mind. Most places I've stayed, we've been an afterthought. Here, we are the first thought. It's all about the diver here, and that is GREAT.

Email me if you have any specific questions, I'd love to help!

Stayed for 3 nights during early October 2007. Upgraded room to overlook the harbour. Absolutely beautiful gardens surroundings, beach and snorkelling.
Walk into town takes around 30 minutes, small bars and restaurants. Fairly low key resort and not yet spoilt by mass tourism. Would very much like to re visit for a week or so.

Stayed for the last week in August 2007. I found Bonaire after a Taxi driver in Amsterdam said it had the best diving in the Caribbean - he wasn't wrong. Great diving in August although lost one day due to hurricane Felix passing to the north. Bonaire is south of the hurricane belt but can get a bit "tropical" at times but it doesn't last long. Dived with the on-site operators who were very friendly and experienced. Boats at this time of year were never full most days 5-6 on board a boat that could take a dozen or more so nice and spacious. We saw turtles, eagle ray, sea horse, 4 types of morays and a host of other typical reef life. Water visibility easy 30meters, temperature 29C. No big pelagics here. There are three dive boats a day and we normally took the 9am and 11am trips and then skipped the 2pm to have a long lunch on the boat shaped open air restauraunt and then laze on the sandy beach for the afternoon. Plenty of rum punches. Serving staff and very laid back which is typical caribbean so ask directly and it will be forthcoming don't expect 5 star attentiveness. The standard rooms are small and we upgraded to a one bed suite with sea view for $100/day extra which made the wife very happy so money well spent. Mosquito nets in the room are needed and you should take a spray to keep it effective although I did enjoy splatting them (so if you get the room with lots of blood on the wall I am sorry).

Bonaire is quiet so don't expect a jumping place, but there's plenty of restauraunts in central Kralendijk. To get there is a nice 20 minute walk along a lighted sea front promenade which we did almost every night. The walk on the way back was a good digestive. If you're fat or lazy a taxi will do the job in 5 minutes for $10, but take the walk you'll feel better.
