First off, staying in a casa is the way to go anywhere in Cuba. And Maura's casa was no exception. It is one block from the Museum of the Revolution, one block from where the Viazul bus stops in Havana (right after the tunnel) and a short walk to all the sites of Havana Veija. As a single woman traveller I never felt unsafe travelling to and from her home. Though I speak not a word of Spanish, and Maura's English is very limited, Maura greeted me warmly upon arrival and let me know that her house was my house. She was apologetic that her family were going on what was probably a much needed vacation to the beach, but she left me in good hands with her friend. The room was absolutely clean, comfortable and had air conditioning to beat the July heat. Breakfasts were generous and delicious. A great place to stay for your trip to Havana.
