We booked the honeymoon hut and loved our own private cottage just steps from the water! We sipped Kubuki beer on our private patio as the sun kissed the horizon each evening. Clean and comfortable, large vaulted ceilings, huge shower for two, and air conditioning. A very nice accomodation for a Caribbean island!

Great location to explore the island. We rented a car in order to explore Calibishie, dive and kayak with Nature Island Dive (Great!), whale watch with Dive Dominica (Saw a mama and a baby!), and dine a few nights in Roseau. If you rent a car, just remember that this is like any other non-tourist island- thin roads, steep hills, just go slow. We then stayed at Jungle Bay Resort to explore the interiors of the island (no driving by us!)

Excellent, filling breakfasts every morning and even chose to eat delicious dinners at the hotel a few nights! Staff was very friendly, accomodating, and always remembered who we were. No bills to sign. No problems asking for more towels. Always helpful with directions and dinner reservations in Roseau.

A peaceful location with views of the bay and various sailboats. (The cruise ships dock in front of Ft. Young and Garraway so no views of them here!)

February was a fantastic time of year to go- no bugs, no mosquitoes, low humidity, and warm, sunny days!

We stayed in the "honeymoon hut" at the Evergreen in February 2008. We had a wonderful, close up view of the Caribbean from our patio & enjoyed hearing the surf. Our room had a great flat screen TV & refrigerator. The staff was wonderful - very friendly & helpful. The meals were very good & it was wonderful to eat overlooking the ocean. The only negative was that the bathroom lacked amenities - the sink was very small & there was very little room to put toiletries. We didn't think there was enough storage to unpack our clothes - just a closet to hang some things + a small drawer in each of our bedstands.

“Best views of the bay”

I was looking for a dive package in Dominica. I found 4 hotels in the Roseau area. Based on the reviews in Trip Advisor,I booked with Evergreen. During my 1 week stay, I visited the other 3 hotels. I found that the Fort Young hotel had the best property, rooms and amenities, but it was about a mile away from the dive shops and dock in the Castle Comfort area. I would stay there if I wanted to be pampered or catered to.
I found the Castle Comfort and Anchorage hotels which are next door to the Evergreen to have the atmosphere I was looking for. Both cater to divers with a shop on their premises and a dock for their boats right out front.
The Evergreen, however, had the nicest property and rooms. They also had the best restaurant. Right on the water, it had one of the best views of the bay. The only better view was from my room on the third floor. Three large windows on three walls gave me the best veiw of the bay - better than the view from Fort Young.
The food at the hotel was surprisingly good. Breakfast included American bacon and eggs or omelet with fresh local tropical fruits and juices. Dinner varied. Their fresh local catch was excellent with rice prepared local style. They were not shy in making their rum punch strong and flavorful.
I read other reviews critical of service on Dominica. Yes. Service is slow by American standards. Just leave your attitude and stress at home and chill down to island time. I found the staff and service slow, but they did provide service and were genuinely friendly. I found the staff to be quiet and reserved, but did respond with humor.
The only downside. The hotel lacked the diver atmosphere I was looking for.
The bottom line- if you want to hang out with divers, book at the Anchorage or Castle Comfort next door. If you want to stay at a slighty better property, with better rooms and better restaurant, book at the Evergreen.

Just returned from a dive trip to Dominica. Stayed at the Evergreen Hotel. We had an air conditioned oceanfront room, with 2 double beds, which was comfortable. Beautiful view from our deck. Breakfast was included in our package-fruit, juice, coffee(really good) and a choice of omelette, pancakes and french toast with a meat selection. This was good before diving.

The hotel staff was helpful and pleasant. They arranged a rental car for us. When my friend's dive bag did not arrive they stayed on top of it and eventually she received her bag from the airlines.
You can place items you need to secure in their office safe. There is wireless internet, which we used.

You can walk to several other restaurants from the hotel for some variety.

We dove with Nature Island Dive in Soufriere. Wonderful dive shop and dive masters. Small groups(6) with a dive master. Takes about 20 minutes by car to get there, but well worth it. Wafey and Oskar were fun and knowledgable. Valet diving at it's best. Champagne Reef and the night dive were awsome.

Our second trip to the Evergreen found us there at the same time as Scubatravelers. We had the owner, Jennny, book a custom 6-night package for an oceanview room and diving with Nature Island. The hotel will book with any dive operator, tour, or excursion company. Just tell them what you want to do. All was arranged for a fair price. As others have said, the property is well-maintained and they take wonderful care of guests. Our top-floor room was beautiful. The included breakfast is leisurely and filling, with many options of juices, fresh fruits, coffee, teas, meats, eggs, french toast or pancakes. There's an afternoon snack menu with sandwiches, burgers, etc. For dinner, there's both a prix fixe 4-course dinner and an a la carte menu. We chose to eat light at night and often drove over to the Fort Young -- a 10-minute trip -- to dine at their bar. The Evergreen has a nice bar/lounge that offers dominos, cards and other games for guests. Free, secure parking for rental cars. Great location in Castle Comfort next door to Castle Comfort Lodge/Dive Dominica.
