I spent two nights in April at Pepper's wiht a fellow Peace Corps Volunteer. I cannot speak too highly of Pepper himself and the wonderful, efficient tour he gave us of the island. He had lived there all of his life, gone to the Catholick school in Roseau, and it was clear had selected his location, really behind his house carefully and personally developed the two bedroom cottage. If backed to a small rocky beach. It was across the river in a family neighborhood of homes in walking distance of the city itself. It was close enough to walk to the town for an evening of food and fun, then next door to a grocery store where you could buy your own food and drink and sit out on his open air living room, decorated in shades of blue, relax in the homemade blue tile splash pool, and enjoy the evening. At night the rooms had air conditioning, tvs, a selection of video tapes and small library of materials about the country.
The two days touring with Pepper were the highlight of the trip. As a native of Dominica and experience taxi driver he was able to fit in virtually every important tourist site...and there were many, on our short two days....the Carib reservation, beaches, fort, waterfalls....
Pepper is a real entrepreneur, with more ideas for other "cottages" around the island. He loves his country and shows it off to great advantage.
