After reading some reviews we were worried about this hotel, it was definitely alot better than expected. The hotel does need refurbishing as it looks a little tired but everything is very clean. There are different types of rooms, we had a huge apartment which had two floors and 3 double beds for 3 of us, 2 bathrooms and enough room for about 6 more people. the only down side was the air con which was really noisy so slept without it.
The food was lovely, dont go expecting english food you are in the dominican, but what they do have is gorgeous. My daughter who is 16 had no problems at all she ate more than she has ever done on holiday before. If that's not to your liking the beach bar does burgers, chicken and toasted sandwiches with chips.
I have to say the waitors and waitresess are lovely and will help you with what ever you need.
The pool is one of the biggest in the complex and there's also a kiddies pool. Everyday the entertainment team (James Bond, Brad Pitt and Rambo) do games and dances round the pool, they work hard at keeping you entertained and if you get people like we did who are up for joining in, you will have a really good time with them. The entertainment at night was a bit hit and miss but it was so cheesy it ended up being hilairious, especially rambo who does the karioke very badly but funny. There was alot of people that arrived on the same day as us and we all got on very well which added to the entertainment fun.
As far as sunbathing is concerned I cannot over emphasise how strong the sun is, you will need at least factor 30, the sun for some reason is stronger here than in places like greece. We all burnt badly and we were just continually putting it on. Lots of people we spoke to had the same problem with blistering and had to cover up.
The beach is great but there is alot of sellers going up and down, just say no thankyou and your left alone.
We went on 3 trips, horse riding with chico at the hotel, we saw the real Dominican people and countyside, dont expect horse riding hats- their health and safety is not like ours, but they do look after you.
The Outback Safari was brilliant , lots to do and see well worth the money. Ocean world was just amazing, it's not lke florida with thousands of people there could of only been 400 people there. Lots of room and time to see everything. The dolphin swim which my daughter did was out of this world. well worth the money as you get alot of time with them. Drinks and food are not included on entrance fee, but they were reasonable we shared a freshly prepared large Pizza for 9 dollars which is not alot.
Overall our holiday was amazing, We are going back next year, We are not sure if it will be this hotel as it is closing down at end of April for refurb, we will have to see when it get's finished. Looking at the reviews and some of the complaints that were made while we were there, I can honestly say that these people will moan whatever, we worked out that it cost us each £18.20 a day to stay there, where can you get a room, all you can eat and drink for 24 hrs a day ? this hotel is 3 star not 4 or 5, if you want Luxury then you have to pay for it, you cant expect to get it at the prices that people pay for this hotel. Also if you want to make the waiters, cleaners, maids, barmens day, if you have any spare money at the end of your trip please give them a tip, they really dont get alot of money, and our change is alot to them.
