The entire property was spotless, not even a cobweb to be found. Employees were always working on the grounds & cleaning - constantly. Food was good but not great. Drinks were hit or miss, sometimes they were made wrong. The animacion was muy, muy bien...always something to do. The ocean was rough & choppy. It got deep quickly so our 12-yr old didn't want anything to do with beach. If you are looking for a calm beach, do not go to Punta Cana.
Now for the American part...we are Americans and throughout our visit we received subpar treatment. It seemed like the staff didn't want to deal with us because we spoke English (even tho we tipped very well ALL the time). In the dining room we witnessed the staff interacting & joking with Spanish speaking guests. When we would ask for something you could see the annoyance in their faces. This could also be why are drinks were never made right?? They should remember we Americans also butter their bread. I know we were in their country but we also spent ALOT of money in their country.
I would absolutely stay in another Riu property but never in the DR again.
