We stayed at Laluna Resort & Spa in October 2011. We booked the Escapte package which states 3 nights 4 days but it should be noted that the flights from Miami get in late at night and leave early morning and therefore it is really a 3night 2 full day experience. We had a stand alone bungalow up the hill, the view was fantastic, it had a large balcony area to lounge in and had a plunge pool. Very romantic. I have to say the sheets were the most amazing I've ever slept on. The staff were so friendly, accomodating. At any point during the stay there were never that many other guests around, it was very private, quiet and relaxing. Perfect place for a honeymoon.
Package came with side by side balinese hour-long massages. The two girls were petit but strong! The spa is very nice, zenlike, and open air. Between the mystical music and the unexpected tropical rainstorm inches from our heads it was really magical-we either fell asleep or slipped into a trance.
Package also came with escort to the waterfalls. We did it on our own but I highly recommend the guide as there were a few unsavory characters at the top of the falls (about a half hour hike up). There was another couple there with a guide and their guide wanted us to follow them back down for safety sakes. We swam a bit up there under the falls, and hiked back out. I ended up with about 50 bug bites on my calves so were protection-that almost ruined the trip!
Dinner also came with the package and it was always good-not amazing if you're a foody, but still very good. I loved how at dusk the bats would dive-bomb the swimming pool next to your table-it took me awhile to figure out, hey those aren't birds!
One of my only critisisms would be that the breakfast staff is definately on island time, it really starts a half hour after they say it does, and I mean come on, for the prices they charge the workers should show up on time. They really rolled in one by one sleepy-eyed and weary looking. We patiently sat there waiting, we had an early morning flight and really wanted at least some coffee. Dexter was our waiter and boy was he cranky! And really he just ignored us altogether. It put a bit of a damper on the last day.You would get better service at Denny's.
Overall, we had a relaxing and very enjoyable few days at this hotel and could have used a few more. Grenada has some of the friendliest people I've encountered.
