We just spent the most glorious four days on the beautiful Grande Anse in Grenada at Jenny's Place. What I liked best was that the small intimacy of the appartment suites which are located just a few steps from the beach; the closest to the beach of all the hotels and appartments on the Grande Anse. I stayed in a clean, beautifully decorated room overlooking the Grande Anse (Helaconia)...spectacular view!! The staff were friendly and helpful; and the owner Jennifer went out of her way to make sure we were well looked after. Breakfast was included in the price, consisted of a wide assortment of local fruits and juices, pastry, cereal, tea and coffee. I would definitely go again.

Jenny's Place is a wonderful place for a holiday!

Jenny and her staff are always friendly and helpful, they make you feel at home from the very first moment!

The rooms are spacious and clean. We stayed in an upstairs room with a sea view - what a view ! We spent our days touring this beautiful island or lying on the beach where we could use Jenny's chairs, umbrellas and beach towels for free. We enjoyed the excellent food (made by Eve, the cook) in Jenny's restaurant, called the Foolish Chicken. You can have breakfast in the morning in the restaurant and you can reach out your hand and touch the sea!

We both love the Caribbean sea and have already been to many different islands and this hotel has been the best we ever had !

We highly recommend this place!

Amazing family reunion at Jenny's Place

My wife, her family, my family and friends all met up at Jenny's Place in January. It was an absolutely incredible trip. We live overseas (we're expat Canadians) and have family and friends all over the place. We could not have picked a more welcoming, hospitable, and relaxing location than Jenny's Place. We spent time on the beach in front of the hotel, we used the free chairs, the free kayak, and loved the location as a base for long walks on the beach. Jenny organized tours for us - boat trips, bus tours, and arranged taxis as needed (not always the most convenient thing in Grenada). The bar/restaurant was great. We were all up late at night playing cards with drink by the beach enjoying the outstanding food served by Eve (the cook!). We were there for 3 weeks and trust me (as a huge eater!!!) the restaurant is top notch, is by far the best on the entire beach, and very reasonably priced. If you are looking for a place to stay in Grenada, there is NO OTHER!!!!

We are actually back on this site now planning for our next trip to Grenada in late May. I'm counting down the seconds to stay in one of those huge, comfortable, and accommodating rooms. Jenny was very helpful in providing us with a portable stove and other kitchenware to ensure that we could take care of ourselves in the room as needed. We had a coffee maker, a more than satisfactory fridge, a microwave and plenty of space to load the place up with food and drinks. Thinking about it already gets me in the relaxed mode!

I would absolutely recommend this to anybody from couples to family with kids to groups looking to get together. It really was great.

My husband and I just returned from our 3rd trip to Grenada. We stayed again at Jenny's Place since we had enjoyed our time there before. As was expected, the food was excellent, the rooms clean and spacious, and the hospitality wonderful. Frankly, the value here is so much better than anything else we looked at. We plan on going back to Grenada next winter, and we will definitely stay at Jenny's Place.

All not what it appears to be !

My wife and I have just spent six weeks (Mid Jan 09 to March 09) at Jenny’s Place and upon arrival all seemed fine until the cracks appeared, Jenny and Shaun gave us a warm welcome to start with but a couple of days after gave us the impression that we were only tolerated (maybe we were not in awe of Jenny’s past as we should have been).
There is a distinct tense atmosphere about the place caused by the shouting and bullying of the staff mainly by Shaun who disappeared about ten days before the end of our stay and the staff seemed a lot brighter after he left.

The Location
Jenny’s place is located behind a barbed wire fence at the not so nice very northern end of Grand Anse Beach where the beach is both narrow, littered with building rubble and has murky water but enjoys good sunsets. The dollar taxi (bus) route is just a short walk up the hill on the main road giving access to both St Georges and the main part of Grand Anse.

The Staff
Even though the staff appeared to be unhappy at their work they were all very pleased to help in whatever way they could and would always give us a smile.

The Room
Our delightful room was called Heliconia and was spacious, clean, well furnished and equipped with a large
balcony (15’ by 6’) but had over roof ocean views, not full views as we expected. The bathroom was spacious with a shower over the bath which was unsatisfactory as it had very low water pressure, sometimes none at all. When I discussed this problem with Shaun he replied “ that is not good enough, however I cannot turn up the pressure because it will burst the pipes”. There is air conditioning which in our opinion must be limited so as not to go below 22 degree’s centigrade. All that said, we were quite comfortable there, it’s just a shame that these points weren’t rectified

The Restaurant and Bar
This is a short stroll through the garden and serves full meals, snacks and drinks; the restaurant manager Sue (originally from Manchester UK) was also not very happy and left after only a few weeks.
Beach loungers and umbrellas are available free of charge; however one has to struggle with these down steep steps onto the beach and then take them back again when finished with. Jenny and Shaun always insisted that sunbeds were returned to where we got them from. This is very hard work and the outcome was that we chose to walk down the beach to the nicer part of Grand Anse Beach and pay for beach loungers. There is a fresh water shower close to the restaurant which can be useful when there is no water in the room shower.

The Gardens
These are very well maintained and are full of tropical colours with a crazy paved foot path down to the restaurant and bar. The path has solar lights to guide the way, most of which don’t work .

Conclusion
Judging by previous excellent reports about Jenny’s Place, things have changed dramatically. It might be O.K. for just a couple of days. The place has great potential however our stay was not as enjoyable as we planned or expected. Would we return – Certainly not, we know that we can get better service and value elsewhere.
and we would not recommend Jenny’s Place to anyone.

Management response from Jenny060, Owner/Manager
(Management representative)
12 Mar 2009
We must be slipping! Two unflattering letters in one month is way too much for us. But let us once again try to respond.

In February we had unseasonal weather. This occurred throughout the Caribbean. Lots of rain causing pipes to burst . The broken pipes meant that we had to use our back up system but it is never as powerful as the mains. We are on the public system so everyone in the area had a similar problem to us! The heavy rains resulted in some murkiness caused by land drainage into the sea. This problem occurs all along the beach but is more noticeable at the North and Southern end of the beach. Jenny's Place is at the northern end.

Sue, our Restaurant Manager (who was also British) had agreed to work with us only to train our new staff over a period of some weeks. She will soon be opening up her own business and never intended to work more than a month or two with us. We now have a more permanent and quite satisfactory new restaurant Manager.

Sorry that Jenny's Place did not win over this couple. Once again, we tried and will always continue to do so.
