“Loved the staff”

Sandals Inn

My husband and I just return from Sandals Inn last night. The staff is wonderful, the food is awsome, and Omar kept the drinks coming! However, this was an anniversary trip for my husband and our honeymoon 4 years late. It also was our 1st vacation together and our 1st time being away from our 4 children for this length of time. The phones didn't work, so I couldn't call home...I had a panick attack. That was Saturday when we arrived, the next day we spent the day at Montego Bay resort and I was able to use the phone there. Long story short...from Saturday to Wendsday, we were unable to call home from our room or order room service. You get thirty at 2am and you don' feel like walking from the 3rd floor to the bar so you get tap water and step out to the hallway to get some ice...but there's no ice! We paid for this and are not able to use it. We did let the staff know...I think they did what ever they could do in their power but this wasn't a good first impression for the Inn.

I do love Jamaica..I will be returning but I don't think we'll be staying at the Inn...but we'll visit so we can see the staff.

Sandals Inn

My husband and I stayed at The Sandals Inn from May 3-May 10, 2008. This was our seconed stay with Sandals. We arrived at the Inn about 4pm after spending over two hours to get through immigration. Mark, one of the assistant managers was there to greet us in the arrival lounge. However, unlike our last stay with sandals, there were no cool towels, and no champange. After we filled out some paperwork Mark returned to ask us if we would like something from the bar. He returned a few minutes later and we were escorted to our room on the third floor. The lobby and staircase were very clean and nicely decorated. Upon arrival in our room (wich was about 95 degrees because the air can only be turned on when guests are in the rooms) we settled in and decided to give the room service a try. However, our phone was not operating. I went back down to the desk and a woman came up later and told us that the entire resort was having phone problems. We didn't think anything of it and went over to Sandals Montego Bay for the evening. Upon our arrival, we saw the front desk using the phones so we assumed they were repaired. We stopped by the bar and enjoyed a few of Johnathons Happy Drinks and headed back to our room to give room service another try. Still no phone.
Sunday we spent the morning floating in the pool after we enjoyed room service for breakfast. The breakfast at the Inn was very good and they offered a large variety. We walked into town and did a little shopping and had a mojito at Margaritaviille. I eyed up the slide and promised myself that we would come back later in the week so that we could swim and enjoy ourselves. For dinner we headed over to the beach party at Montego Bay. The party was crazy!!! Couples were exchanging clothes for bottes of rum. We headed back to the Inn where we enjoyed some entertainment at the patio bar. This was the first of MANY times we were asked for tips.
Monday morning...still no phone. I headed back down to the desk explaining that Monday was a special occasion for my hubby and me and we were planning on spending the morning in our rooms enjoying the views of the sea and ROOM SERVICE. The staff appologized and promised it would be fixed immediatly. Nobody ever showed up to fix it. We spent the day at Sandals Royal Caribbean. About midnight I walked my room service order down to the desk and they looked at me like I was crazy! By tuesday morning I was getting rather upset. Between the phone and the tips, I didn't even feel like I was at a Sandals. When I went down to the desk, they asked me why I had not yet complained about the phone if I had been there for four days. I told them I had complained four times...then a manager appeared and promised me it would be taken care of immediatly. A tech showed up in our room about 10min later. He repared the phone and we were happy!!! We enjoyed some room service and headed out to enjoy the day at Royal caribbean. When we returned to the inn to prepare for the returning guest dinner I picked up the phone to order some champange and fresh fruit as an afternoon snack and you guessed it....no phone! Our phone worked about 5 hours of the entire 8 days we were there! This would not have bothered us if we had not payed to stay somewhere with roomservice. On a positive note, the returning guest dinner was excellent. The fluteist was excellent.
The bar at the Inn was nice and made for a good place to come back to for a night cap each night. However, the only way to get any good service was to tip. We saw just about every couple tip at some point of their stay. Some more than others, and service deffinatlky reflected that. We do not mind tipping, but when we have already paid our tips included with our stay, it became an unexpected expensense (no spa for me:()
The other two Sandals were nice and the serice was excellent. The snoerkeling at Montego Bay was awesome. We will probably not be stayin at the Inn again and we will have to really consider going back to sandals...

We stayed at Sandals Inn last year, the same week, and booked before we came home for this year. We were welcomed home before we got both feet through the gate. Our stay was awesome, once again! Looking at other reviews: Yes, minor plumbing problems (i.e.; slow flushing toilet, minor fluctuations in shower temp.), no rats ever seen, we were not solicited for tips, and the staff was just as friendly and inviting as we remembered them to be! The food was, once again, fabulous! No matter where we ate; at the Inn, MoBay, or the Royal-we could not find one thing to complain about when it came to food! Or drink-other than the fact we think we put a few pounds on!

We find the Inn to be more personable/intimate because of its size. Yes! The staff remembers your name and everyone greets and smiles and checks on you all of the time! Right down to housekeeping and maintenance. You don't get that at the larger Sandals all of the time...you get it, but not like you do at the Inn!

We find the Inn to be peaceful, extremely friendly and clean. Any concern you have is answered to immediately. If something is wrong, they make it right. We like to go off on the tours and look forward to coming back home to relax. We were happy to see that they were environmentally conscious and gave us the option of linen and towel changes. There are so many things they do right!

We can't wait to get back to our "other home" next year! Last year we said we would do one more year at Sandals Inn and then find some other place to go...we ended up booking again at the Inn for next year. We will go other places, but the Inn will always be that one week to just get away and relax. Sort of the primer for those "other" places!

“Relaxing and Fun but Not Luxurious”

Sandals Inn

13 May 2008

We are a midtwenties/early thirties unmarried couple who went to Sandals Inn for a 4 night vacation just to relax. This was our first trip to Jamaica. We stayed at Sandals Inn b/c it was cheaper than Sandals Mo Bay and Sandals Royal Caribbean. We did indeed spend most of our time at MoBay and RC (shuttle runs frequently). The beaches, activities/entertainment, and food (or I should say # of choices as well as dining atmosphere) are much better at these 2 places than at the Inn. I will say that had we been honeymooning, I would've been disappointed to be staying at the Inn due to lack of luxury. The rooms were stuffy (they have window unit ACs and fans), and bathrooms were outdated and never got cool. As mentioned by other reviewers, shower temp is impossible to control. There is constant street noise from cars honking, playing loud music, etc. The beach is a public beach that is across the street and was filled with locals for our entire stay. We never once set foot on it.
As for the activities, which we were most excited about, we found no jet skiing sponsored by Sandals (boo). The snorkelling we planned was cancelled due to rough water (so sad!). The kayaking area was small, so we only did this for a few minutes.
Now for the good points! Weather in early May was perfect! Close to airport and to Sandals Mo Bay and RC. Good food except for desserts. Great drinks. Good service, though it is better if you tip (even though "tips are included"). Fun activities at night at Sandals Mo Bay. We loved the all-inclusive experience! Next time, we'll prob stay at Sandals Mo Bay or RC though.
Warning: If you book the Dunn's River Falls tour through Sandals Inn, they will tell you it's a full day. Well, half of the day is "shopping", which is where they take you to a bunch of tourist places and pushy vendors try to sell you a bunch of overpriced "touristy" items. It was terrible. The falls, however, were wonderful! So try to get a half-day tour or book through another company.
One more tip: Book the restaurants you want to go to the day you get there.

This was our 17th visit to a Sandals resort, and once again we were not disappointed. The entire staff went above and beyond to make sure we had a great stay. Cheryl Brown, the general manager, should be commended for doing such a great job. The food was great, the room and resort were always clean. The location of the Inn (hip strip) allowed us to get a real feel of Jamaica. We would not hesitate to stay there again.
