We vacationed at Beaches Boscobel from October 24th to 31st. On our second full day there were booked a return trip. We have been to several all inclusives in the past (Cuba, Barbados, St Lucia, Dominican and another Jamaican resort) and this is the only resort we have rebooked. We travelled with two children aged 9 (turned 10 during our visit) and 12 years of age. They loved the water park and all of the restaurants. The main pool was a perfect temperature and we spent a lot of time in that area. The Staff were fantastic and we did not encounter one single staff member that was inconsiderate or rude. Pauline at the Arts and Crafts centre was fantastic with our kids and they went back to do several of the crafts with her. My husband made quick friends with Nashawn at the swim up bar. We did not utilize the Kids Club as our children were too old but we saw several youngsters enjoying the activities offered. My youngest daughter celebrated her birthday during our stay and the staff went above and beyond in making her feel special. We did the water trikes and banana boat rides and loved every minute. The beach is small but there is plenty of lounge chairs (we didn't have trouble finding a chair at any part of the resort at any time of the day) and lots of sandy areas for kids to play. If you must have a beach where you can walk for miles this is definately not the resort for you. The pictures of the beach on the website are accurate - what you see is what you get. The drive from the airport was 2 1/4 hrs and we stopped 1/2 way for a refreshment break. As the location of this resort in relation to the airport is no secret we were prepared for the drive. We brough travel mugs and took along some refreshments for the drive from the Sandals/Beaches lounge in the airport. You will need to tip the people assisting with your luggage at the airport (they do not work for the resort - just the same as any other airport in the world). You can check in online ahead of time which made our arrival a breeze. We were in our room within 10 minutes of arriving at the resort. The food was good but did get a little repetative in the buffet restaurant. Arizona's was excellent (especially the ribs!!). The Venetian was ok as well. It was nice that you did not need reservations at any of the restaurants. The BBQ Grill near the water park was nice for grabbing a quick snack. Speaking of the waterpark - if you have kids this resort is a must!! Our whole family enjoyed this part of the resort and it was one of the deciding factors when we originally made the reservations. There are vendors in the water and on the dock and while they do call out to you they do not pressure if you say "no, thank you". They do allow vendors on the property for a couple of days during the week. We really enjoyed the shopping and the bartering. The vendors were polite and we did not feel pressured. They did not approach us on the resort - they were all in a specific area and we had to go to them. We found the photo shop pretty pricey. $295.00 US for a CD with up to 80 pictures. You can only buy 5 x 7's or bigger if you want printed pictures. We bought 3 with one frame for under $50.00. We only left the resort once - for a tubing trip. It was good and we will probably do it again. The resort itself was very nice and definately had the island feel - once again, all of the pics on the website are accurate. We read several reviews before our trip and were a little worried that this resort may be run down - definately not the case. All in all, a great vacation - the staff really make this resort worth the trip.

The service was excellent at this resort. We were 2nd time visitors for the beaches resort, so we got a few special amenities, which made this trip one of a kind. I also got engaged over this vacation and beaches made that experience a night I will never forget and will cherish always. The staff was very friendly and our group actually ended up hanging out at the same piano bar every night because the bar tender was so entertaining. I went with 18 people and we all had a great time!

Like others, after reading negative comments we were a little skeptical, but after our week''s vacation at Beaches Boscobel, I can truly say... DO NOT LISTEN to the negative reviews!! It was a fabulous resort! We did not leave the resort and still had plenty to do between the pool, beach, waterslides, watersports, arts and crafts, and nightly entertainment. The kids (and adults) were exhausted every night from days full of activities. The rooms were beautiful and spacious -- looked EXACTLY like the pictures on the website. We booked the lowest grade room and were upgraded to the next level (for free) without even asking.
Patricia in the arts and crafts department is wonderful, patient, kind, and very deserving of the top employee award that she received! Orlando was a terrific waiter who took the time to talk to us and give us lots of information on Jamaican culture. And Dwight, the bartender, made the best "Deep Blue Sea" I've ever tasted -- ask him to make you one!!
We were so pleased with our vacation that we, too, booked for another future stay while we were there. Rupert was great in helping us get all of that set up.
The locals around the sides of the resort were fun, friendly, very respectful, and I advise you use the local ladies if you're looking into braids for you or your children's hair -- much less expensive than the resort spa ladies. You felt very safe and they did an excellent job.
All in all, it was exactly what we were looking for, we had a fabulous time and you will too!!!

Thank you to all Beaches staff for giving us such a wonderful vacation, and for giving Helen and Simon a wedding to remember.

My wife, my daughter Julie and myself had a fantastic time - the best vacation ever- made even more fun by the welcoming staff that were always there with a smile.

The staff at ‘Beaches Boscobel’ represent all that’s special about Jamaica and are great ambassadors for your warm and friendly country.

The food was perfection. The table and bar service was professional and the entertainment was well-organized and fun to watch or participate in.

It is so difficult to single out who made our two-week vacation a memorable experience because everyone was fantastic and there are just to many names….

But here are our awards in our role of honor.

The service staff - for exceptional politeness.

The bar staff - for their winning smiles and fast drinks.

The kitchen staff - for providing outstanding food.

The players/arts and crafts - for their energy and love for life.

The lifeguards - ever watchful and for keeping the pools and beach safe.

The Concierges – always there to help

The Security guards – for their morning waves and for keeping the site secure

The Reception and gift shop staff - for their warm welcome every time.

The gardeners, maintenance staff, and housekeeping – for singing along to Eddy Grant, repairing stuff and keeping everything clean and tidy

Four words can sum up how we feel about Beaches and Jamaica
Love, Peace, Respect and Unity

A big, big thanks from Don and Christine Parker
Yeah mon!

Tips for getting there:
1. Make sure you take a pen on the plane so you can complete the immigration forms to enter the country.
2. Take some small bills with you to tip the porters at the airport and the driver to the resort -- they are not employees of Beaches.
3. Even though they provide drinks at the welcome area in the airport, they do not provide snacks. It is a 2 hour ride from the airport so, if your plane arrives mid-day (as ours did), make sure you take some snacks with you. It was well past everyone's normal lunch time by the time we arrived at the resort and had I not had snacks, the long bus ride with hungry kids (and adults) would have gotten our trip off to a bad start. As it was, we all snacked and enjoyed the scenery as the road followed along the coast.

The resort was actually much smaller than I had envisioned so regardless of where your room is, it isn’t a far walk to any point. We were welcomed as we got off the bus with cold drinks and someone to take our luggage. Because we had upgraded to an oceanfront room (for $150) a couple of days before arrival, we had concierge check-in so it went very quickly. The family we were traveling with had booked a standard room and it was not ready when we arrived at 2:00. They were escorted to one of the restaurants for lunch while they waited. After lunch their standard room still wasn’t available so they were upgraded to an ocean view room at no additional cost.

The rooms (as well as the resort as a whole) were very adequate but not the "luxury" we were expecting from the advertisements. Even though we were disappointed (since it wasn't what we were expecting), we had no complaints. It was all very clean and well maintained. We did have a problem with the lock on our door one time but someone was there to fix it within 5 minutes.

Even though I very much enjoyed the view from our beachfront room, I would not select this location in the future. Our room was on the top level of the three-story beach-front building and the main stage was right above us. On nights we wanted to retire early (such as the day we arrived), it was difficult because you heard all of the activities going on above you. Next trip, we will book the basic room which is at the back of the resort to get a quieter setting (and save $1000).

We enjoyed the food tremendously. We didn't try Eleanors (they don't permit young children) but the Venetian (the Italian restaurant) was FABULOUS!!!! Bayside (the buffet) was extremely good as well -- especially the made-to-order stations (i.e. omelets in the morning, paninis or burgers in the afternoon, and grilled meat and pasta selections at night). The food was good at Arizona's and you couldn't beat the ambiance (note: even though it's a Tex-Mex restaurant, they were out of sour cream two nights we ate there). We weren't crazy about the BBQ restaurant.

The water park was PHENOMENAL!!!! The four adults in our party enjoyed them as much as the two girls (both age 7). Contrary to what we had read on other reviews, we had no trouble finding chairs or towels.

The snorkeling was the best we have ever experienced (and we have snorkeled all over the Caribbean and Hawaii). We saw sea snakes, huge lobsters (about 2' in length), a monstrous sized sting ray, scuttle fish, and a very abundant variety of tropical fish. The coral reef was beautiful. There was one location that wasn't as nice as the rest, but they took us to a different location each time.

We were there for 7 days and didn't leave the resort the entire time. There were more than enough activities to keep the girls occupied (even though they thought they were too old for Elmo and friends). Our daughter didn't enjoy the kids' club as much as she does the ones on cruises but we didn't find that to be a problem. After breakfast, we played in the main pool until the slides opened at 10:00. After lunch we would go back to the room and rest until time for snorkeling (usually from 2:00 - 3:00). Then we would enjoy the water sports or the craft area and the beach until dinner. After a late dinner, we were usually ready for bed.

Take LOTS of sunscreen (we went through 5 cans of spray-on sunscreen and had to purchase additional at the resort for a premium). Take a white t-shirt to make tie-dyed shirts so you don’t have to purchase it there. Keep in mind the crafts aren’t just for kids – the adults enjoyed them too!

Security is very good throughout the resort and there are numerous life guards (who were a lot of fun) on duty throughout the day. Even though we had read numerous review about the pesky locals selling things from their boats in the water, they never once were bothersome to us. They were there each day but never approached us and asked us to buy something.

We felt this was the most restful, relaxing vacation we had ever had. We enjoyed it so much we booked a return trip to Beaches while we were there.
