My new bride and I came to Couples Negril for our honeymoon-- 8 days, 7 nights. I can't encourage anyone reading this enough to book your trip here without a second thought. We had a wonderful time -- words cannot express it.

We arrived in Montego Bay where a storm welcomed us. No problem, however-- the Couples lounge at the airport was perfect-- Red Stripe on tap, smiles all around, and we were on the bus within 10 minutes. One of the bus guys ran across the street to the gas station to get Red Stripe bottles so we could keep the momentum going for the ride to the resort. The ride isn't bad at all-- 70 minutes there, and only 60 minutes on a Sunday morning when we returned. Negril is definitely the nicer side of the island-- real white sand beaches rather than man-made in Montego Bay.

We were greeted with champagne and taken to our room under umbrella since it was raining. We stayed in the basic garden room-- just as other reviewers have said, we weren't in our room much at all so it didn't make sense to spend the extra money. I will say that some of the suites had hammocks on the verandas which did look rather inviting. The room was very nice-- maybe we got an udpated one because the bathroom was great-- very clean and new. The bed was very comfortable and the flat screen HDTV was a plus. Turn-down service at night was also great. We tended to take naps after lunch and if housekeeping didn't make it before we crashed, they'd have it done as soon as we left the room again.

The food was nothing short of amazing. This was my first all-inclusive so I didn't know what to expect. I would go as far as to say that the food was gourmet. Even the buffets were just out of this world. Make sure to get your reservations for Otaheite, the fine dining restaurant. We wish we would have gone more than once. My wife declared the duck her best meal ever-- which is saying a lot coming from her-- she's sort of a food snob. :)

The bars were excellent-- drinks are NOT watered down and they have top shelf liquor in every variety. The red flag service on the beach is pure heaven-- just stick your flag in the sand and someone appears out of nowhere to take your order.

The catamaran cruise is a must-- the caves they take you to are breathtaking and one of the most memorable experiences of my life-- swimming in the turquoise-blue water in and out of the caves-- just amazing.

If you are trying to decide where to stay in Jamaica I cannot recommend Couples Negril enough-- you will not be sorry! Our vacation was absolutely perfect in every way, thanks to the outstanding staff and beautiful resort.

TRIP REPORT: Brief:)
CN 6/19-6/26/08

WEATHER
Fantastic. Average temp was 87 degrees. Rained two days for less than 20 minutes.

FOOD
Heliconcia/Beach Grill: Good for snacks and lunch but dinner was excellent. Ate dinner here once.

Otaheite: Ate dinner here twice. Steak was very well prepared. Met the chef.

Lychee: Loved the edamame. Sushi was OK. Appetizer plate was really good. Try a lychee martini. Ate here twice.

Cassava Terrace: Breakfast most mornings. Had bacon every morning...shh, don't tell. Potatoes changed daily, they also had omelettes and oatmeal. Staples were pastries, french toast, eggs, bacon, sausage. Had lunch were once and the Mahi Mahi was out of this world.

Continental breakfast: Used this service twice. Loved it!!!!

ACTIVITIES
Catamaran Cruise: MUST DO!!! I was a little scared but I so glad we did it. You sign up the day before at the watersports area. Then the day of you go a ½ hr early, walk through the water a bit, you will get wet, then climb the stairs to the boat. You can sit in the back of the boat on benches of the front in the net area. They took us to rockhouse ( I think) and we got out and swam in a cave for a ½ hr. It was sooooooo cool!!

Kayaking: It was my first time and I was not a huge fan of it to say the least!

Watched tie dying and ice carving.

ROOM & GROUNDS
Fantastic air conditioning. I was not a fan of the bed. It was low to the ground and a bit too hard for me. Nice balcony, tv (which we watched more of than usual at home b/c its a flat screen. Mostly movies in between swimming and lunch or dinner). Deep tub, no problems with water pressure. Room was cleaned daily. Read all the little signs when you get there in the room. It took us a few days to realize we needed to leave our towels in the tub to get new ones and put a little sign on the bed to get our sheets changed!

It was so lush and beautiful. We had a view of the coy pond and a bit of the beach. We stayed in building 4 on the 2nd floor. It was the room I requested with our travel agent, 4210. Very quite and peaceful. Not much road noise at all or people. Since it was our 3rd time in Negril, we did not take too many foliage/ground pictures. Plus, I feel like I've been looking at CN pictures for a year!

STAFF & SERVICE
Grand. Shout out to Richard, Ivylin, Carrie and Lindon. So many people I forgot a lot of their names. But I definitely remember the bartenders! Beware the overproof rum....it will sneak up and hit you and then, you won't remember a thing. I only heard this from someone else:)

BEACH & OCEAN & POOL BAR
Wonderful. Sometimes hard to find shade, but we did it. Were not into sunning, but a lot of people are.

Normally I would not indulge in the pool in Jamaica, (this was our third time going) but my goodness, the pool bar....oh my god....I love it!!! I think I went in three times. This was one of my favorite parts of the resort!! Drinks on demand, good conversation AND I get to sit in water?? MUST DO!!

GUESTS
All were nice. Seemed to us at this time that most of the guests were young. Some middle aged.

WEDDING
Went perfectly. Not a cloud in the sky. Which could explain why it was so freakin hot!

Overall: CN is a pricey vacation and we would like to go back someday. However, this was a special vacation for us because of our wedding.

My wife and I just returned from celebrating our wedding anniversary at Couples Negril and we loved it. It was our second attempt at an all-inclusive, our first attempt in the D.R. was not so good so we were hesitant at first, but we were not disapointed at all. To start with the resort grounds were breath taking, the staff was friendly, the service was wonderful, and the rooms were more than ample as well as comfortable. My wife and I believe we have found a place to return to time and time again and we look forward to a return trip. The few minor problems we found with the resort did not at all impact on out trip. The resort is in the process of a facelift, while we were there a whole building was under renovation, witch is needed but it is not in disrepair, it is just starting to age and needs to be freshened up. The food in the restaurants was very good especially the italian retaurant, and the alchohol was top shelf as well as local. A note to those with sea food alergies, at the grill they use the same deep frier for the french fries, onion rings, and the fish so just be aware of that. We had one small incident in te gourmet restaurant, that was almost deadly to my wife who is severely allergic to sea food, but it was averted. The staff makes the whole resort come alive and they can never do enough for you. I hope this helps you all, and we look forward to bumping to you at the pool bar next trip.

This is far and away the closest to a flawless vacation. We stayed 5 days between June 21st and 25th. Flight was early. Reception at airport was great and immediately boarded for trip to hotel with stop half way for drinks and bathroom break.

The place was really dead at the end of June. I would guess they were running 20% or less of capacity. It was great as far as no lines and never waiting for anything. We used all the water sports equipment except the sailboats only due to sun burn.

Rooms are above average. Well maintained, but not new. We did see remodeling in progress in some of the buildings. Food was good or great. Only had one slightly raw hamburger. Everything else was great.

We did stop at Swept Away and didn't care for how stretched out that property is. It must have been at least three times as wide. I like how Negril is compact. Everything within minutes walking distance.

We'll be going back.

As I write this review the rain is pouring in the UK and I can only but dream of Couples Negril. We arrived on 20th May for 11 nights and it was the most relaxing holiday I have ever been on. We arrived from London vibrating from work stress and a long flight but it didn't take long to unwind.. the staff here are fantastic and work amazingly hard. I have been on one all inclusive before and it was dreadful so I was quite apprehensive about the food/drink etc. We are real foodies but I needn't have worried. The choices were fantastic, how they cook to that standard on mass is beyond me and they deserve much credit. I still dream of the breakfast buffet .... We were up at 7am each day to enjoy the idyllic mornings and spent the rest of it, eating, drinking, floating and snoozing, paradise!
