“Nice views, hotel met our needs”

I had been to this property several times shortly after it opened. Returned after 6 years. Rooms are simple but clean and all have great views. Front desk, housekeeping and grounds staff were all very friendly. Restaurant was a joke though. Tried to have dinner one night. Took over 2 hours from seating to get food. Only 1 other couple in the restraurant. Tried breakfast but they weren't sure if the cook was going to show up. Pool had a disturbing sign stating not to get into pool if you had an infectious disease or open wound. Not sure what they were referring to as far as infectious diseases and meant to ask upon departure but forgot. Will return to property and ask. Overall , a good choice if you are looking for someplace just to hangout and relax without being bothered. Many good restaurants within walking or short cab ride.

“Fabulous hotel on the cliffs!”

I just got back from the Coral Seas Cliffs Resort on the cliffs in Negril, Jamaica and I had a fabulous time there! This is a beautiful, well run, authentic Jamaican hotel. As my driver pulled up, a girl from the front office came out to greet me and check me in in the nice cool air conditioned lobby. The gardener carried my bags and showed me to my room. It was up a set of stairs. It was a 2 double bed large room with a large, though basic bathroom, with a huge lovely balcony looking out over the ocean. I believe all rooms at Coral Seas have an ocean view. I booked my package deal through Negril One Stop. Bob and Susan, the husband/wife travel agent team, are wonderful. They set me up with the Semi-All Inclusive package which means all meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) free and all local drinks free. Now with that plan I could not get lobster or crab legs, there was another plan for that. But I did get basic meals like chicken with vegebables and a potato, chicken salad, burgers, BLT's, fruit plates, etc. for lunch, nice full cooked breakfast with eggs and bacon. Everything included for an extra $ 20. per day. I stayed there 3 nights for exactly $ 240. and all meals and drinks included! I thought it was a terrific deal! Their pool was just perfect. Had a nice ledge all the way around to sit on partially submerged in the water and perfect for smaller children to grasp ahold of the side without having to reach very far. There was a hotel driver, Richard who was good at planning little excursions for me and one day he took me to Mayfield Falls. A MUST SEE! $ 70. but it was worth it! Take your video camera and videotape the entire ride there which is almost 2 hours but most enlightening through sugar cane, along roads of cute Jamaican style houses and shacks (which are extremely well kept along that particular route), everything very colorful and safe. Richard drives slow enough that you can get it all on tape. He suggested we go on
a Sunday when their was less traffic. Mayfield Falls is an extremely well run facility $ 8. admission. You will get a guide to help you over the river rocks and these guides are terrific. They will NOT let you fall. It is milder and not steap like Dunn River. Very enjoyable. (I passed on Dunn River several years ago - too dangerous looking for me!)
The guides carry a padded waterproof bag with all your cameras in it (video camera, regular camera, bring them all!) He takes you to choice spots and carefully dries his hands with the towel inside his shoulder bag, takes your camera out (alternating different cameras) and takes a shot when you're ready.
Coral Seas Cliffs Resort has the nicest staff, bartender, waiter, driver, front desk girls, gardener, and maids. I loved everyone there. I also loved the location. It was right across from a craft market and a convenient store. You can also walk down to The Rock House and look at the property or have dinner. Be extremely careful walking. Road has no shoulder and is narrow. Walk in the grass. There is a small bar very close to the road to the left as you walk out of the Coral Seas. It has wood beads hanging across the front and wicker furniture and a small bar to sit at. I had a drink there and the owner, a rasta is very friendly. He offered me a red stripe beer and when I said I didn't bring money he said don't worry about it ...you can bring it to me later. Then he explained how the girl there does massages in the room just behind this bar which he showed me. IT was a professional set-up with professional massage table and I had the half hr. massage for $ 25. as my back and neck were extremely stiff from the heavy luggage I carted all the way from Buffalo, NY. She does deep tissue massage and is very good. She went to school for that for 8 months. Again, they told me to not worry about the money ...just bring it back later, which I did.

I always enjoy my stay at Coral Seas Cliff. I was there in August 2003 and November 2003. The staff is heaven-sent and so is the food. I always feel quite welcomed there, it's like the staff is my own little family. That is why I highly recommend Coral Seas Cliff. For the hospitality, it's inexpensive and the view of the Caribbean Sea is absolutely beautiful.

“Great view, decent room, but...”

Spent a week in Negril Sept 20-27, 2003. Had reserved a "studio" which has a kitchenette. The unit we got had inadequate A/C and no coffee maker, blender, or micro. Moved to a different room on Mon. eve. This one was vastly better - larger and all amenities we wanted(ceiling fan did not work). Both had a balcony that looks out to the gorgeous sea.
Wonderful sunsets, when it wasn't raining! Just got rubbed the wrong way by a few of the staff. Pool is nice and restaurant/bar overlook the sea. The grounds are well kept and beautiful. Food was fine, but we mostly ate elsewhere. We also went to the Beach facility. The Cliffs is a decent deal if you get the right room. The cliffs side is much different than the beach side.

I booked my vacation thru a timeshare deal, so I didn't have much of a choice in hotels. Actually the only choices I had were one of the three Coral Seas Resorts. Upon the Beach being booked I chose the Cliff.
Assuming if nothing else the view should be great, and it was. The hotel is typical of that you'd find on an island. Very suitable if all your looking for is a place to put your head down. If your on a honeymoon or like extravagence then your in the wrong place. The rooms were basic, clean and the staff was very friendly. Always willing to help and always looking for a little something for helping. I was nervous at first being on an island and their reputation for having "bugs". But to my pleasant surprise I honestly only saw two palmeto bugs the whole week I was in Negril and they weren't at the Cliff Hotel. Just as a precaution I had them spray the room twice during my week stay, which they did w/no problem mon. Aside from an occasional small ant (which the spray took care of) the room was bug free. It had a little balcony off it which over looked the blue tranquil water. The bathroom could have been in better shape but all in all was ok. The kitchenette in our room was descent. We met people a few rooms down who's kitchenette wasn't quite as uptodate as ours. We just used the fridge, which came in handy for beverages because we didn't take the all inclusive. I would definately try the food before taking that package. It was very average food and very small portions and the wait to eat is unbeliveable. We waited 2 hrs. to get food at the Cliff both times we ate there and basically 1 to 1 & 1/2 hrs to eat any where else on the island. Its REALLY laid back. Which is an adjustment from living in a city. Try the Rockhouse next store for food, 100 times better.
Also Kubaya was outstanding!
