“Welcome to HOTEL HELL”

Paradise View Hotel

I am very easygoing and easy to please but this hotel was a hotel from HELL!!!! And I mean HELL. Took my wife for our anniversary because all th eother hotels were booked up. Staff were superb BUT THE HOTEL HAS GOT TO GO!!!!

No telephone.

No remote control for TV.

Cloudy reception on TV.

A/C hardly worked. Woke up in the middle of the night soaking wet in sweat because the A/C stopped again.

Sliding doors did not lock AT all.

No hot water in sink at all. And the sink kept running becaue the other pipe was broken.

Dirty pool- collge kids messed up pool even more.

HAd hand towels in room instead of regular towels. Had my own that we walked with and used them instead. Towels had dirty marks all over them.

Bath tub was FILTHY.- forget the slimy shower curtain!

Had to slam the door to lock it. It was always jammed!!!!!!

NEVER AGAIN.

I found the posts after we came back and wished I had seen them before we left.

Someone said that the country is poor and its their culture. Yes I embrace the culture and the people are very friendly - all of them I met but there is no excuse for the condition of the hotel. Especially for tourists coming from another country who dont want to start any trouble to make their vacation any worse than it already is. So we made the best of it and stayed out of the hotel most of the time and came back when we were too exhausted to argue about the A/C or the cold water in the shower.

Jamaicans - very warm, friendly and kind always.

Hotel staff - wonderful, warm, helpful always smiling.

Hotel - HELL HELL HELL HELL!

Paradise View Hotel

I am a regular traveller to Negril and I usually stay in one of the upscale all-inclusive properties. If I am just overnighting, I would stay in of the budget hotels. The budget hotels that I normally booked were fully booked, thus my misfortune in staying at Paradise View Hotel. I am really a laid-back person and generally do not complain but I want to save you some precious time in advising you to stay clear of this hotel.
The room which was reserved for me was on the ground floor but we felt a bit uncomfortable so we asked for a room on the second floor. The room had only one bed so we asked for them to get the room ready and add another bed.
We went out to dinner and when we came back and really looked at the room, we were disappointed in what we saw. The patio furniture was AWFUL! It looked as if it was picked up from the beach after a huge fight with Hurricane Ivan. The soft furnishing in the room was somewhat substandared but we thought that we would make the most of it as we were only there for one night.
We decided to take a nap prior to going out to the disco. When we awoke we found the room to be a bit warm. This was approximately 12:00 midnight and when we went to the F/D it was closed and no one was around.
Our troubles were just about to begin. The toilet did not flush. We had to empty the waste basket and use it to fill the tank with water. The towels were of a dirty white color. Luckily we had taken wash cloths as there was none (we would have been skeptical to use them anyways). There was no hot water at all. We quickly left the hotel for a night on the town.
After a long night at the disco we returned to our room at about 4:00p.m. To our dismay the key did not work. We tried several times but to no avail. Again, no one was there to help. We really needed to use the rest room and had to go back to the night club to do so.
We returned to the hotel and started to nap in the car. One of my friends thought that she would go and try to use the key again and finally it worked. She had used her house key in the lock and then used the hotel key and it worked.
We slept for a few hours and even though we were tired, we just wanted to leave the HELL! The A/C did not work after all this time. The room was so hot. When we left the room I closed the door and tried the key AGAIN and AGAIN it did not work.
We made a complaint with Monique the receptionist who took my information and advised that the Manager, Mr Brown would call me back. After a week of not getting a response, I called again and spoke with Opal and was told that the owner (I don't remember the name), woud call me back. It has been one week since I called them back and no one has called me.
Needless to say, we will never go back to PARADISE VIEW HOTEL and I urge you all to stay away from this hotel.
We normally stay at Coral Seas Garden or Coral Seas Beach and these are decent budget hotels.

“No Water... At all.”

Was there for new years. Spent a week. I'm a budget traveller so I've seen quite a bit, however NEVER this bad. Everyday somebody would be at the front complaining about the water problem (lack of water). I hooked up with some guys and over the week I would shower and different peoples hotels. THAT"s how bad it was. I'm not a complainer so i figured deal with it the best that I could.

Staff is great, Peter in particular tried his best to get us water. However, the sliding doors don't lock at all, and when you are on the ground floor not a very safe feeling.

The pool was disgusting, never anybody at the bar (or so called bar). For coffee Peter would boil some water for me and give me instant coffee. That's the extent of the cuisine. Overall very very disappointed.

It's the management that doesn't want to spend any money, however, in time, this place will definetly go out of business. That's GUARANTEED.

I stayed at Paradise View hotel last summer and would not stay there again. My room was clean and the staff very nice but the management of this hotel should take a look at improving things there. I see that having water for showers is still a problem, even after all these months. It was most frustrating to get up mornings to no water, then try to get ready to go out and not water for a shower. Sad, but I actually kept a few bottles [that I had brought with me] full of water so I could wash up using this water.
The dining room was never open the whole week I was there and the pool was closed for the first few days due to "broken pump"! So few guests there that I did not feel safe most of the time in the eve. Doors did not lock properly and I found a stick to put in the slider to give me more of a sense of safety. Very poor reception on the TV and yes, if you are a single traveler, you do need a TV! This hotel has lots of promise, is only the owners would take a look at what goes on there. You get what you pay for----almost! Stay elsewhere!

“Lacking Necessities”

Paradise View Hotel

11 Jan 2005

I do not consider myself a high maintenance person when it comes to sleeping accomodations in Jamaica. I like a clean room with hot water, fresh towels, and clean sheets. That is not what I got at the Paradise View Hotel. The hotel lacked even the basic necessities - not amenities but necessities. I looked at 3 different rooms and ended up staying in 2 different rooms. The first room I stayed in did not have any water when I needed to shower. The second room I looked at had trash in it and urine in the toilet. The room I spent my last night in was cool, but the hot water wasn't working very well and water pressure was very low. The beds slept well, but the sheets were dingy. They needed a good bleaching. If you like TV then the TV had cable/satellite, but most of the stations were fuzzy and had static noises in the background which made the TV unwatchable.

I only spent 2 nights at the hotel due to overbooking at another hotel. I stayed around New Year's Eve, and I will never stay there again even if it's free. If you want to stay at this hotel, request a room closer to the office. Those rooms seemed to be used more frequently, therefore, they are cleaned more often and the decor is a little better. The experience did not ruin my trip at all though. As previously planned before arriving in Negril, I left Negril and went to stay in MoBay for a week. This hotel made my 3 star hotel in MoBay look/feel like a 5 star hotel. :-)
