I am a regular traveller to Negril and I usually stay in one of the upscale all-inclusive properties. If I am just overnighting, I would stay in of the budget hotels. The budget hotels that I normally booked were fully booked, thus my misfortune in staying at Paradise View Hotel. I am really a laid-back person and generally do not complain but I want to save you some precious time in advising you to stay clear of this hotel.
The room which was reserved for me was on the ground floor but we felt a bit uncomfortable so we asked for a room on the second floor. The room had only one bed so we asked for them to get the room ready and add another bed.
We went out to dinner and when we came back and really looked at the room, we were disappointed in what we saw. The patio furniture was AWFUL! It looked as if it was picked up from the beach after a huge fight with Hurricane Ivan. The soft furnishing in the room was somewhat substandared but we thought that we would make the most of it as we were only there for one night.
We decided to take a nap prior to going out to the disco. When we awoke we found the room to be a bit warm. This was approximately 12:00 midnight and when we went to the F/D it was closed and no one was around.
Our troubles were just about to begin. The toilet did not flush. We had to empty the waste basket and use it to fill the tank with water. The towels were of a dirty white color. Luckily we had taken wash cloths as there was none (we would have been skeptical to use them anyways). There was no hot water at all. We quickly left the hotel for a night on the town.
After a long night at the disco we returned to our room at about 4:00p.m. To our dismay the key did not work. We tried several times but to no avail. Again, no one was there to help. We really needed to use the rest room and had to go back to the night club to do so.
We returned to the hotel and started to nap in the car. One of my friends thought that she would go and try to use the key again and finally it worked. She had used her house key in the lock and then used the hotel key and it worked.
We slept for a few hours and even though we were tired, we just wanted to leave the HELL! The A/C did not work after all this time. The room was so hot. When we left the room I closed the door and tried the key AGAIN and AGAIN it did not work.
We made a complaint with Monique the receptionist who took my information and advised that the Manager, Mr Brown would call me back. After a week of not getting a response, I called again and spoke with Opal and was told that the owner (I don't remember the name), woud call me back. It has been one week since I called them back and no one has called me.
Needless to say, we will never go back to PARADISE VIEW HOTEL and I urge you all to stay away from this hotel.
We normally stay at Coral Seas Garden or Coral Seas Beach and these are decent budget hotels.
