Last week we returned from the Lost Beach Resort as husband and wife. This was absolutely the best choice we could have made for our wedding. We were joined in Jamaica by 38 of our closest friends and family all of whom said this was the best wedding they have ever attended.
Turning onto a road that eventually leads to Lost Beach, you would've never guessed that such a gem of a hotel lies just a few minutes ahead. After few bumps in the road and several small shacks and goats, you'll make a left through a gate and all of the sudden the ocean is just a few feet away. From the moment we stepped off of our van to the time we stepped back on it to leave, we had the time of our lives. The entire hotel is just beautiful. The landscaping was gorgeous. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The pool was large and the water was crystal blue. The ocean was surprisingly warm and therefore very welcoming. The beach itself is isolated from the typical tourism that Jamaica is famous for with the exception of a few local fisherman. The fisherman, by the way, were willing to sell their catch for a very decent price. Our friends purchased enough lobster to feed 10 people for only $40 and the kitchen staff cooked it for us for a nominal fee (if not for free, I can't remember). The restaurant had great assortment of food and drinks. Try a lobster bisque soup and a dirty banana (a drink).
You could probably spend your entire vacation without ever stepping your foot off the resort but there's plenty of stuff to do not too far from the hotel too. We went horseback riding, snorkling, visisted a local school, seen a bat cave, visited Mayfield falls, went to Negril and Rick's Cafe and to a Negril lighthouse and visited a Negril crafts market. If you do go to the market, just keep in mind that every single person there will try to pull you into their store. If you're want to buy souvenirs in Negril, I would suggest you go to a duty-free store such as the one right across Burger King on one of the main roads in Negril.
The wedding and the reception were just what I was looking for if not more. The staff, headed by Jennifer the Great, did an amazing job organizing the event. I'll spare you the details of our wedding except that everything was just perfect and the food the hotel prepared was delicious.
If you're looking for a place for a small, intimate wedding or for a place to reconnect with your friends and family (we did all of those), I would highly recommend the Lost Beach Resort.
