Before you go, know that Jamaica is an extremely poor country and Negril a poor regional town there. Negril is not town proper but a 5 mile stretch of narrow road dotted with shacks and a dozen or so resorts. There is little outside the resorts' walls developed for tourism. Plan to spend your time in the resort; so spend extra and get one which has reviews of good food.
The Samsara's amenities are basic, but enough. It is quite beautiful; with it's dramatic cliffs, outdoor jacuzzi and gorgeous sunsets. The food was TERRIBLE! When sitting at the outdoor bar or breakfast dining room I was really taken back by how the had managing to ruin the entire experience!
Restaurants in Negril are VERY basic, consisting mostly of shacks with a couple of plastic garden tables and chairs. In order to get to and from them you must hire a $3-5 cab there and back. Negril's road is without a sidewalk and the distances are too far to walk.
If you have to go to Negril pay extra for a better resort with good food reviews. Ensure that you have AC. Not all apts have it.

Not your 4/5 star hotel but for the cost of staying here what do you expect. Stayed all inclusive and found it excellent value for money, staff friendly , helpful and very entertaining. WARNING!!!!!!DO NOT USE THE CREDIT CARD TELEPHONE IN RECEPTION

we read all the online reviews and were worried about the stay but when we got thair all i can say is that the people that say this place is rundown, dirty,and have bad service should not have left the ritz.. We had a wounderful time the staff was wounderful and yes they do work for tips just like many of us in the states. We did have an problem with the shower when we got their but the staff had it fixed within 1 hr. and were very helpful. the food was great. and everything was clean. The group of us that went was from age 40 down to age 13 and everyone wants to go back. we had 5 differant rooms and each and every one was very clean and updated with tile floors new bathrooms. ect.. If you have little kids this resort does allow women to go topless when at the cliffs but not at the bar or not when your walking around so beware of that with kids. but we are booking again and takeing even more people with us this time.

What can we say...SamSara just gets better & better with each visit :) This was our 5th time staying there...LOVE the place! First of all, the lush gardens create this peaceful vibe as you walk the property...be sure to go across the road & check out the ackee growing in abundance. The pool & jacuzzi are always inviting & they've added a lounging pool & fountain that is amazing. If any of you remember concerts held at SamSara way back...you'll be surprised to see a Spa in it's place. Nothing like getting a massage while watching the waves of the Caribbean. And, we're not talking just massages...they have facials, manicures, pedicures, hairbraiding, you name it, it's available :) And, you can't forget the Daily Sunset Happy Hour...Maureen will take "extra-special" care of you...this lady is one of a kind! By the end of your first day, she'll not only know you by name but what your drink of choice is...how cool is that!!! But, then the entire staff at SamSara (Legends, too!) is "top-notch" in our book...the friendly faces that have become like a second family to us is what keeps us coming back. Why try something new?? SamSara is our home away from home & will always be...
