My husband and I were supposed to stay here for 5 days. We only lasted one then switched to another near by hotel. To start, the staff is unfriendly, unhelpful, and rude. Our room was infested with ants and flys. While we were at dinner at the caribbean sunset resorts' restaurant someone from the hotel went through our stuff in the hotel room. We returned to our room to find a few unimportant items missing. We felt lucky that we had brought our passports with us to dinner. We didn't feel safe so checked out 30 minuets later.

Hello, My cousin and I went the Jazz and Blues festival in Montego Bay, The concert was nice but the traveling from Negril to Montego Bay was toooooooooo Long. They said that it takes 30 minute to get to the hotel from the Montego Bay airport, but it really takes 1hour and 40 minutes so they lied about that. Then they was very stingy with the towels and wash clothes. I tried to speak with the manager/Owner of the establishment but he told me that he was not going to deal with customer services issues, that I would have to wait and speak with the front desk clerk in the morning. Also the Linen on the bed was nasty it was blood stains on the sheets, They did not want to upgrade our room. We had to sleep wrapped up in a flat sheet, because the gave us soiled bed linen. The only nice thing that I can say is that the men that he have working at the hotel was very hospitable and kind. Geico and Sharleen is the name of 2 people that work their and thaey help out to try and make this stay as pleasant as possible.

P.S. I hope this will help people decide better on traveling arrangement for their family, I guess you get what you pay for. Before you consider this hotel please, please please read this review because this experience was the worst experience of my life!

GOOD LUCK MR. HOTEL OWNER!

The hotel is honestly rather nice. - If your like me and you dont like to be waited on hand and foot its perfect. - I didn't have an issue with bugs like others have posted. - The rooms were sub-par, but to be quite frank I wasn't in my room very often. :)

I am rather confused how everyone keeps saying its only a few minutes from the beach. - If you walk to the beach its at least half a mile. Should I had known this I would have chosen another hotel.

Leaving the hotel we were constantly bothered by locals hounding us for rides and to buy items from them. However after a few days we figured out that if you just look straight forward and ignore them/say no thank you several times politely they are very respectful and understanding. - Be aware though the locals as a whole are VERY friendly. - The first night not understanding the area I was very concerned about safety, however by the 3rd night we were walking around with no problems. - Just make your way to the beach where the tourists are and your fine.

I would suggest those coming to this hotel this year pay attention to the discount Ricks Cafe is offering for new passports. - They offer $100 cash vouchers. - Which we didn't even use there. - So if your planning to make this your first trip out of the states. - You'll get $100 free!!!! Good deal there.

In terms of buying things/paying for things. - I highly suggest you bring only $1 US bills and $5US bills. - We brought only $20's. - Not a good idea. - Not that it was stolen, but it was just a hassle always getting change/leaving tips.

UNDERSTAND the ratio between your countries dollars and Jamaican money. - Locals will take you for a wild ride if your not careful.

Always talk them down on prices, you'll find that if your polite about it they're polite as well.

The hotel did provide a safe. - I greatly appreciate this. - Very SAFE. - I had $10k worth of camera equipment within mine with NO problems.

On a closing note, note that this hotel is a good one, not great, but good. - You will find better service and location at Moms place which is ON the beach. - Come to find out my last day it was $40US less per day than the CSR.

Oh one last thing. - If your a interested .- Note that most hotels and restaurants do NOT allow the servers to keep tips. If you give the server a tip in plane site and another employee sees it the mgrs take the tips and keep them for themselves. - Really offended me. - Make sure your tip them quietly on the side, or dont do it at all. - It wont go to them anyways. :(

“Decent value”

We (my two adult daughters and their boyfriends) just returned from a six night stay at the resort and were not disappointed with it. If you want to be pampered you should stay at an all inclusive resort. There are no phones and no refrigerators but our room was clean and comfortable. Air conditioning, tv, bathroom and showers all worked fine. Restaurant and pool was adequate. We rented a van in Mo Bay so that we could go do things on our own pace. We went to Dunn's River Falls and Half Moon Bay and ate at various restaurants. We also did a lot of walking. There is the constant barrage of vendors and taxis soliciting but if you respond respectfully and do not ignore their presence they will respect that and move on. We never felt threatened walking around Negril.

Positives:
- Cleaning staff was accommodating and super sweet
- Simple place to stay. Nothing extravagant, but quaint.

Negatives:
- We were taken to our room. The man turned the air conditioning on and cockroaches fell out.
- Lots of ants - bring bug spray.
- Hotel "restaurant" is understaffed, therefore veryyyy slow.
- The staff told us it was a good deal to pay 500 Jamaican dollars for one way anywhere around the area. We soon found out standard is 50 Jamaicans. We constantly felt ripped off.
- No refrigerator
- No phone
- Broken clock
- Location isn't that great. It's on top of a hill. Once you leave the hill, locals harass you to come into their store or if you need a taxi. It's def. walkable to the 7 mile beach, but for about 2-3 miles, the beaches are covered with locals who stop you for anything and everything. If you don't want to be bothered, go past Margaritaville.

Random advice:
- You have to be stern with the locals or they won't stop bothering you.
- Try the restaurant across from the Sea Winds(?) Resort. It's a local joint off the beach. It's so cheap, so much food, and you get a real taste of Jamaica. It's a peachy/pink colored building.
- Try walking the entire beach from beginning to end. It's a lot of fun.
- Rick's Cafe is overpriced but the experience is awesome.
- We stopped by the Riu and it was AMAZING.
- We went to the Jungle -- it was fun. Upstairs seemed to be filled more with tourists whereas the lower level had more locals.

Overall:
We got a good deal staying at this hotel, but pay a bit more and you wont have to wait on food, service, and will have clean (bugless) rooms. If you don't mind petty bugs and can handle imperfections, this hotel will do fine.
