My two friends and I were expecting a really bare-bones place because of the price and the reviews we'd read, but we were pleasantly surprised on every front. The room itself was adequate--certainly not upscale or particularly homey, but very spacious and pleasantly simple. The grounds were beautiful! Flowers and vegetation everywhere, and the views were wonderful. The front desk staff, while not excessively warm, were perfectly accomodating and helpful. We were pleasantly surprised at the free Internet and juice. The place was kind of deserted, but it didn't really bother us. We spent a bit of time by the very nice pool, had a couple of drinks at the pool bar, and ate a few breakfasts at the restaurant--the food was great, though the service, like everywhere in Jamaica, was pretty slow. It's a super-quick walk to town, and we walked to the beach a couple of times, but when we wanted to head further down along the beach, we definitely had to cab it (~J$350-400). You can either take a cab directly from the hotel (there are always drivers waiting) or walk down the hill and grab one from town. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this hotel.
