I have to admit the hotel could be cute as a button, and some things have been remodeled, and other things were in the process. It wasn't that bad really, we had an oceanview with king size bed, room 630 to be exact, though there were some sketchy things. The hotel only takes cash, and they don't have change!!! Our room had a 360 degree view of the ocean, BUT a 10 min. walk to beach, (it would have been very nice to be right on the beach), But it is right up from The Hilo(grocery store), Cambio(bank), Burker King, and the round about, and a very reasonable tourist shopping center. We had to pay to upgrade to the ocean view. It was $10 extra a night= $60.00 of course it was cash, and the girl at the desk stated she was giving it to me half off and not to tell anyone(that went into her pocket im sure)!!! Then there was our room!
Not bad really old tile floor, and newly tiled bathroom (with OLD faucets)---no outlets in the bathroom, or room but one with the tv! Newer bed frame & dresser. The upstairs ocean view rooms by the pool had vaulted ceilings with tounge & groove boards, and the new tin roof was wonderful when the rain cam!!!
Some rooms (villas) had all new tile, flat screen tvs, marble vanities, and new mahogny sliding glass doors, plantation blinds, and there was new teak tables along the pool, and a new spanish style(tin roof).Then there was our door, it was a sliding glass door (I believe the original from when Chuckles first opened)!! It took all my strength to drag this thing to open it and close it, and to top it all off, it was locked with a luggage lock & key. If they keep up the remodeling in another year or two this place will be a wonderful little hotel. We hung out at a little bar called 23/7 -beach bar under bug thatch roof, and werent in our room that much, we also spent a few nights on the cliff at Xtabi<---highly reccommended

My husband and I have done our share of traveling around the world, but I don't know this time it was different... We never had felt so unsafe... We have traveled to the Bahamas, Puerto Rico, Cabo San Lucas, D. Republic, Cozumel, Cancun, Playa de Carmen, Aruba, Barbados, Egypt, and Amsertardam...
Don't get me wrong, I think it was the hotel and its surroundings... We are not picky people something about the hotel was just not okay for us... For one, the ants and mosquitos in the room were just not right. The low pressure in toliet water just not right. The scary, pounding, slamming of doors from other guests, not okay.
The location was okay. The island is beautiful.... Beautiful.... The people are nice. Take a shuttle to and from Montego Bay to Negril for 20 dollars per person. 90 min ride from M. Bay to Negril and vice versa.
The hotel food is good, but try Juicy Jay down the hill to your left. Lobster for 15 dollars, you can't beat the price... Remember, Juicy Jay... Nice people... Again, the location is not bad, but the hotel is something else...
Taxi ride from hotel to Margaritaville 60 Jamaican... Don't get ripped off... Go out, enjoy... It is a beautiful island... You will love it.

This is the second time ive gone back to this hotel..i really love it's location! Please understand this hotel is for self caterers not for people to be waited on hand and foot, therefore its for people who want to experience the real jamaica including meeting the people, who incidently embrace tourism in negril, so you are very safe...only getting over charged on taxi rides maybe the downfall.
the hotel was having work done to it and so it was very noisy at times from the builders drilling. polite and hospitable staff including the manager sharene,janet and tamisha. the location is great only 1 min away from ALL that you want taxi,pharmacy,supermarket,burgerking juciy patty and 5 mins away from one of the best beaches in the world! if only i owned this venue!!

The location is GREAT!!! only 5mins walk from the beach... supermarket and ATM is just minutes away... the best thing about this hotel is the FOOD. Authentic delicious Jamaican food and it is not too pricey either. If you guys ever go there, make sure to meet Ricky the chef. He is such a great person and a great friend. I will definitely go back to this hotel.

OK place, but be prepared
Cash Only and very expensive drinks and food at Hotel
Very Steep Hill to Hotel
Shady neighborhood
Nice Pool
Nice steep 10 minute walk to beach, but what a nice beach it is.
2x a day shuttle to beach
Eat at the Slot machine Bar around the corner(Towards the West End), if you are not offended by hookers the conch, fish and chicken from the grill are fantastic.
Jamaican people were great!
