We stayed here for our honeymoon in 1991 and it was absolutely fantastic.The staff were so friendly and the food could not be faulted.The views and the beaches were just dreamy,and we had Frenchmans cove all to ourselves on one particular day.Our holiday was arranged by Virgin Atlantic who unfortunately do not go there anymore,but we have promised ourselves and our children that we will go back one day.Hopefully Patch,Patrick,Carol,Jackie,and T bird are all still staff there.

Must be some of the finest views in the Carribean from the open restaurant of the hotel. Our room was very large and well decorated but the bathroom was in need of renovation and we had to wait a couple of days for hot water! The position makes up for any shortcomings and the gardens are lovely.....enchanting to watch the humming birds in the trees before breakfast! The staff were very friendly but the hotel did seem a little 'tired' and areas like the pool need attention. The sea looks a long way away but the walk to Frenchman's Cove was 15 mins and to Blue Lagoon 20 mins....a little longer back us it's uphill. DO stay if you want peace and quiet and are reasonably fit for the walk to the beach. DON'T stay if you want lots of amenities and instant access to town and beach.

I spent a month traveling around Jamaica, and Fern Hill was one of the best hotels for my budget. I typically stayed only a day or two at each stop, but I stayed a week here. The grounds were lovely; the room was large and clean; the amenities were plenty; the food was wonderful; the sunset view was incredible; the staff was consistently friendly and helpful. This is not a beach-front resort, but the beaches down the road are picture-perfect. This part of Jamaica my favorite. If you want natural beauty without tacky tourist traps, this is the place for you.

I had the opportunity to stay at Fern Hill in May 2002 and it was decent.

The view is splendid and the on site restaurant is good as well as the bar with pool tables etc but the hotel is in need of renovation/repairs. We had a standard room and a one bedroom suite both were decent but the property could use a face lift and the management could use some customer service training. Staff was great but management has room for improvment. We were there one night and moved to the Jamaica Crest which was simply wonderful!
