First, make sure you confirm before arrival. I called ahead and still had some problems getting my room even though I had all of my paper work printed out from the site I booked through and the receipt for my deposit and the front desk had NO record of my reservation when I arrived. It's a small business and checking e-mails and internet bookings doesn't seem to be at the top of their list. They did refund the deposit, but not a comfortable feeling thinking you might have to sleep in your rental car. Be aware that the windows are not what most people are used to these days, they do not have glass or plastic so ALL of the noise from the street comes into the room loud and clear, plus the room doesn't get cool from the airconditoiner, because some of the window covers didn't close which caused a constant warm breeze through the room...Honestly, I liked this feature, but I KNOW many people would not. The room I stayed in was small, but relatively comfortable. The only problem, is that the light switch was taped to the on position and the window didn't close in the bathroom which led to tons of mosquitos!
The patio was nice, but again, had lots of standing water so was ideal for mosquitos! Parking was another issue. If you're going to rent a car, I wouldn't stay here unless you want to shell out some money for a space in a nearby garage. It was extremely hard to get in and out of the parking area, in fact, if you rent an averqage size car, you won't be able to park at all. Overall, I enjoyed my stay at the Casa del Caribe because I did my research before going and I knew what to expect. Do NOT go there expecting anything luxurious! But DO go there if you want to experience traditional Puerto Rican style housing.
