We stayed at the Embassy Suites over Easter weekend after a planned check out from the Hyatt vacation club down the road. Hands down the Embassy Suites wins for amenities and price.
The great - the protected and private beach was safe even while other beaches in Puerto Rico were closed for unusually rough surf this past March. The pool has a variety of depths and play areas, some are even shaded, to accomodate large numbers with varying degrees of swim skills. Rooms were clean and comfortable with unobtrusive and attentive housekeeping. Concierge desk is helpful as is the front desk staff. Fellow patrons were friendly.
The good - Plenty of beach chairs, great breakfast, attentive staff and a family-friendly pool. Clean, spacious and in an incredible complex. The ferry to Viejo San Juan is a short drive away. There is easy access to the highway system and the restaurants in town are gracious and good.
The mediocre - Our room reservation was for an ocean view; we ended up in a room that overlooked a parking lot, then a neighborhood and finally the ocean. The staff corrected the mistake after the first night. Ocean front rooms have king beds only with pull out couches making it a tough decision....do we get two beds or make the kids sleep on the pullout for the sake of a spectacular view?
The noisy - The open atrium is rockin' until 11:00 on holiday weekends. The suite bedrooms were quiet enough, but the living rooms were too noisy for kids to sleep on the pull out couches. Be prepared to join in the fun.
Bottom line - You'll want to return to this hotel.
