We did not stay here, but instead at one of the neighboring properties. We did visit the inn's outdoor bar on one occasion. Several times, the music being played at the bar was faintly audible in our room several hundred feet away. This was not bothersome to us most nights, but we were thankful that we were not staying at the inn itself, which has rooms right next to the bar. On Saturday night, however, the inn had a live band. Even though we shut all our windows, we could not fall sleep because of the persistent, thumping bass.

Many of us are attracted to Vieques because of its unspoilt natural beauty. Lying in bed with the windows open and listening to the sounds of the sea is a simple pleasure a visit to the island provides. The inn imposed on this experience in a most obnoxious way.

Having booked this hotel online before reading some of the reviews, my partner & I were slightly concerned that the Inn on the Blue Horizon was, perhaps, resting on its laurels. I can happily say this is most definitely NOT the case.

While not plush, the hotel is the perfect place for anyone seeking a romantic and/or relaxing vacation. The staff is friendly, the grounds are well-kept, the pool area is BREATHTAKING, and the rooms are wonderfully tropical.

If you're looking for a five-star Ritz-Carlton/Four Seasons resort, you'll be better off looking elsewhere: the Vieques definition of of "luxury" is slightly more casual. As the Caribbean is under a severe water shortage, linens are changed midway through your stay - unless otherwise requested.

We opted to spend a bit more and stayed in a bungalow. If you can afford this option, I think you'll not regret it: the views out your front door are breathtaking.

We opted to eat @ the Blue Moon bar (rather than @ the Inn's restaurant, "Carambola") and were pleasantly surprised. Their "tapas" menu, while somewhat limited is very good - and the portions are actually quite large.

I've travelled all over the world and would rate the Inn on the Blue Horizon as one of the best experiences I've had: truly a gift to be treasured!

“Nice but not really worth the cost”

Inn on the Blue Horizon

We spent one night, our anniversary night, on this island during our vacation to "mainland" Puerto Rico. We picked this inn partly because our 2006 Caribbean guide said that it did not have phones in the rooms and it did not have kids under 14 years old, but when we got there it ended up having both so we assumed the inn was under new ownership. I was disappointed in the beach. There was a slight cliff to get down to the beach and it was very rocky, so we mostly hung out at the pool which was very nice. We wanted to have a nice anniversary dinner somewhere, but the inn's restaurant was closed on our anniversary and the woman at the front desk told us that cabs did not run at night and the road to the small town was unsafe for pedestrians (which turned out not to be too true), so we ate at the inn's bar and grill for our special dinner. The women at the front desk were helpful and booked our bioluminescent bay tour for us. Our room was nice and we had a beautiful view but there were tiny ants crawling all over the top of the dresser and I wondered about the cleanliness of the kitchen as I also got an ant in my orange juice (which I did not complain about there). We booked our room 2 or 3 days in advance and paid $345 for one night. I'm not sure I would stay there again unless for a cheaper rate and I would hire a car next time as I think we missed seeing some good beaches on other parts of the island.

Definitely not worth the $320 + for the room. Very nice place, great restaurant, bar, very nice people. Nice pool- though stonework wasnt quite completed yet- didnt effect swimming but theres no good reason for it.

Shower/ bathroom need improvement. Can't keep temperature steady in shower. Broken chair next to bed.

Nice place. Overpriced and needs some improvement.

“Fantastic Small Hotel”

Inn on the Blue Horizon

22 Sep 2006

We stayed at this hotel last Thanksgiving. I agonized over the choice given some of the negative reviews on this website and almost switched to the Bravo. Thank god I didn't! We loved this little low-key hotel. Totally charming, and very low density, so you felt like you had the whole place (which is many many acres) all to your self.

We drove over to check out Bravo, and while it was not terrible, the area was a lot less desirable, it felt more urban, and basically lacked the relaxing and resort feel of Inn on teh Blue Horizon.

The rooms were totally clean and very well furnished. The staff was helpful. The restaurant was not yet open but fantastic breakfasts were available.

We absolutely loved Media Luna. One of the best meals I've ever had.
