Just returned from a fantastic week in St Barth's, where we stayed in one of the new beachfront rooms at the Eden Rock, which was beautifully clean and crisp (nice Bulgari toiletries). The service was superb (and with none of the attitude you might expect in a predominantly French staffed establishment like this), from the restaurant staff to the beach boys and girls who worked tirelessly, smoothing towels, bringing water, serving drinks and brushing sand off sunbeds; we also stayed at the Isle de France, where beach service was non-existent by comparison. The food was also superb, in both On the Rocks and in the beachside restaurant, where a fine mist spray from the edge of the roof keeps the temperature down at lunchtime - a nice touch, and typical of the attention to detail you see throughout the hotel. Incredibly civilised, in a relaxed, unpretentious way: I can't wait to go back!

We stayed at the Guanahani Hotel & Spa before staying at Eden Rock, and Eden Rock is 1,000 times better! We stayed in Fregate suite which is on the main rock and has two huge terraces over looking the bay and a humongous jacuzzi on the lower level. The outdoor space is the best part about the room (the inside style was not as modern or stylish as I personally prefer) but the decks definitely make up for it! It is absolutely perfect sitting on the lounge chairs sunning while listening to the waves splash up, and even better watching the sun set in your jacuzzi while sipping champagne! And the evenings are just as relaxing, you could sleep all night out there! Also, we saw turtles swimming by and poking their heads up out of the water everyday. It is a perfect room for people who want to spend lots of time outside with complete privacy while still being able to watch the boats go by and enjoy the sun.

The food at Eden Rock is really wonderful, but definitely try all of the other restaurants St Barts has to offer. It's truly one of the only Caribbean islands with so many great restaurant choices. The staff at Eden Rock were all very helpful and nice, although research the restaurants you want to try before going because we were not thrilled with their suggestions. Also, definitely go to Saline beach, it is absolutely worth the hike! And the diving in St Barts was much better then expected, pretty fish and corals, sharks, and lots of turtles! We went with Plongee Caribes and really liked them. Another word of advice, be careful driving! It's pretty treacherous on the small winding roads.

I would definitely go back to Eden Rock and St Barts and highly recommend it.

My husband and I spent 5 nights on St. Barth's and 6 nights in Anguilla for our honeymoon. The 5 nights we spent at the Eden Rock were so amazing that we had the most difficult time getting on the plane to go to Anguilla. Eden Rock was one of the most beautiful hotels we had ever seen, with top-notch service, food and rooms. I can't remember what our room was called but it was one of the beach front bungalows. It was gorgeous, with a huge plantation-style 4 poster king sized bed and a spa bathroom.

Every morning we ate at the open air restaurant which was beach front and had the most delicious "continental" breakfast. Unlike most other resorts that serve you bagels and muffins, the Eden Rock continental consisted of fresh and dried fruits, fresh pastries, gourmet cheeses, yogurt and home-made granola. Yumm!

The beach in front of the hotel was gorgeous, with white sand and crystal blue water. The hotel provided comfortable chaise lounges, plush towels, and large umbrellas. As soon as you would walk on to the beach, the beach "hostess" would immediately set up your chairs and give you bottles of Evian water in a bucket of ice. She would bring you anything you needed - food, drinks, snorkeling equipment. A refreshing sorbet was also served to all the guests on the beach each afternoon. The service was really incredible!

Because we went to the Eden Rock during the summer, we did a 5 night package that included a Jeep. We got a great rate on the room and the Jeep was so much fun to have. We took day trips almost every day and drove to many of the other beautiful beaches on the island. The restaurants on the island were definitely pricey but we had a delicious meal every night.

St. Barth's is a true paradise and if you can stay at the Eden Rock, it will be well worth it.

  • Liked — The room, food, service and beach.
  • Disliked — The construction next door.
  • Any tips/secrets for future travellers? — It might be tempting to stay at the beach at Eden Rock, but it's worth it to take trips to the other beautiful beaches the island has to offer.

We spent a week in Saphir. Each room is decorated differently and named. The staff anticipated everything. Any simple request was honored. Both restaurants were quite good. We have been to St. Barts repeatedly and this has been our best hotel experience.

I stayed at Eden Rock for a week during the end of May. This was my second trip back to St. Barts. The resort is by far the nicest I have visited and I have been to some other luxury resorts in the Caribbean (Cuisinart, The Palms). The island also is far superior to others I have visited in the Caribbean. Safety, cleanliness, and vibe are unlike any other place in the tropics. The Rock is situated in lively St. Jean Village which includes several restaurants, cafes, and shopping. The grounds of the hotel are recently renovated and they did a fantastic job. I stayed in the Colibri Suite overlooking the water. The room was spacious and included modern ammentities. You could even see fish swimming in the water from the large deck that was connected to our Suite. The food was amazing, the service five stars and the staff was absolutely wonderful. Lunch at the Sand Bar is a must. The On the Rock restaurant for dinner is lively, colorful and has a vibe unlikely any other place I have dined. This restaurant has immediately become my favorite in North America. Eden Rock was expensive for me but well worth it. I am already saving for my next trip back.
