We had a fabulous stay at the Royal. We chose it as a location to get married in and we were not disappointed! From the moment we arrived, the staff were excellent and could not be more friendly or helpful. If you are considering using this hotel for your wedding, you can safely put your trust in Nerissa Stephen, the co-ordinator, who was remarkable. She made everything so stress free and ensured that we had a wonderful day. In our opinion, it is the staff who make this a good choice for a Caribbean stay. Troy & Maxime and the rest of bar staff were great fun, whilst Mark and the team in Le Chic provide a first class service. We would recommend taking the breakfast plan, where hot meals are cooked to order and there is a wide choice of buffet (fruits, cereals, pastries etc). Within walking distance are a good range of restaurants, for example Charthouse, The Edge, Ku De Ta or even the oriental in the neighbouring St Lucien hotel. We found the beach to be safe, ideal for watersports or generally relaxing. We'll definitely be back!

“Fantastic!”

We visited the Royal in May and it was a truely fantastic experience.
The room was excellent, and room towels were sometimes changed 3 times a day!
The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. You were made to feel like special and important guests.
This hotel is far superior to the 2 Rex hotels next door, I recommend that you pay the extra and choose this one.
The on site water facilities were also good and the Chic restaurant was excellent - a a definite recommendation. The Spa was quite reasonably priced, the gym was pretty basic but better than none I guess!
There are plenty of bars and restaurants close by to the hotel, the Edge was probably the best for a romantic occasion after the onsite Le Chic.
As we went at the end of May the resort and hotel were a little quiet - which we were quite happy about as it meant you often had the pool almost to yourself and it also complemented the relaxing atmosphere. We were gutted to be leave!

“lovely old fashioned resort on a beautiful beach”

We moved here from the hideous Almond Smugglers Cove. The Royal (not to be confused with the Rex next door) is a lovely, old fashioned hotel, with very pretty rooms, great bathrooms (bit dated eg gold taps etc but spacious and sep showers, side jets) and a beautiful beach.

We had two rooms, connecting via a large front door for us and our children. The access to the pool and beach is superb, very easy as we had a baby in a buggy. Would also be great for wheelchairs. Lovely gardens, pretty pool, good pool bar.

The beach was great, golden sands, great beach rondavels with deck chairs. Good quality towels, plentiful supply. Excellent watersports in abundance - very good value for money. Hated the beach sellers who were mostly pleasent, could be tricky.

We liked the food, slow service - especially lunch on the beach (up to an hour wait) but good food when it arrived. Loads of restaurants in Rodney Bay - The Edge was ok, the Thai was Fantastic. The beach barbeque evening at the hotel was idyllic, beach fire with driftwood, outside barbeque, lots of fairy lights, steel pan band.

We would recommend this hotel, it was elegant, relaxing, stressfree, easy access, nice furnishings, spacious rooms, beautiful beach, great food.

“Definitely not a luxury hotel”

Royal by Rex Resorts

I have stayed at this hotel several times whilst in St. Lucia for work purposes. I first (had to) stay here in 2003 and the first thing I noticed back then was how the rooms were hugely in need of renovation. This time, I had stains on the (dark green!) carpet which is in the bedroom. Not just one or two, but all over. Dark brown and red stains. There were also burn marks all over the carpet. Under my bed was an empty drink bottle and the paint was coming off the walls. I have probably stayed in this hotel around 10 times and each time I have had similar issues with the rooms. Don't get me wrong, the grounds are nice and so is the pool. I find the water feature in the pool extremely noisy and off putting when you are trying to relax but some may like it. The surrounding area is nice and less than a 30 second walk from the hotel are many restaurants from Indian to Caribbean to Chinese and Japanese. All of these elements compensate for the old fashioned and usually dirty rooms, but they shouldn't have to. On my way up to my room (3 flights of stairs - no lift), I noticed a tray of food outside a guest room, presumably left over from room service. It was there for at least 24 hours and I only noticed it had been removed on my 3rd day in the hotel - absolutely terrible. Sadly, things like this happen all the time in this hotel and because I believe service in the caribbean isn't what you would be used to elsewhere in the world, you may feel continually disappointed.

    • Liked — The location is great which means you do not have to eat in the hotel.
    • Disliked — The rooms need pulling down and starting again - they are awful.

We just love the Royal! We stayed there two years ago and the service was so incredible we decided to get married there this July.

About 25 people came with us and all our guest had a wonderful experience. The customer service here excels. The location is prime with excellent restaurants within walking distance. There is even a mall in Rodney Bay. The hotel is beautiful and kept up nicely. The hotel staff goes above and beyond to make its clients happy.

Narissa, the wedding coordinator, is awesome. We left the wedding planning in her hands and were not disappointed! We wouldn't have changed a thing. She is creative, organized, experienced, connected, personable, you name it.

I can't say enough nice things about this place. We would highly recommend this island and hotel.
