We dove with DFH during a cruise ship stop in St Lucia. We were told to be at the dock between 8:30 and 8:45, but the transportation boat from DFH did not arrive till about 9:10. At that point, they realized there were too many of us to put on the transport, so 2 people had to take a van that was filled with people from a nearby resort.
When we arrived at the DFH office, we had to fill out the typical paperwork, but were never asked for our c-cards or our dive logs. Ever. Finally we were split into two groups, which both included snorkelers, people taking an "intro to diving" class, and those of us already certified. Our dive boat finally headed out at 11:30, 3 hours after what was supposed to have been our pick up time. This was caused by the delay in jamming enough tanks, getting enough gear onboard and just an apparent sense of confusion on the number of visitors and their certification levels (we were asked about 5 times if we were certified, but never asked for our cards). Again, the two boats that went out both had a range of skill sets, which really made no sense, as the certified divers could have filled one boat and the snorkelers/intro to diving another.
The actual diving was amazing....beautifully colored corals, plentiful fish, eels, turtles, healthy reef, etc. Our first dive was a reef dive, and our second a wreck dive. Both exceeded our expectations and only whetted our appetite for more time in St Lucia. Between the dives, the two boats tied up together and we were served a nice lunch. Again, however, I had to question why each boat didn't carry lunch for the people on their boat instead of making them congregate on one boat.
The dive gear was okay, BCD's were a bit frayed, but regulators were high quality. The dive masters were okay but did not go out of their way to help out or point things out. Also, there was no one standing by to assist us on or off the boat either on land or sea. I completely understand the previous poster who complained of the dangerous operation this company runs, as it just seemed like it was a "free for all" and we were expected to take care of ourselves - not too smart from a safety standpoint. We were responsible for switching out our own tanks, even though we were told by one of the employees that we didn't need to worry about that as it would be taken care of for us. I don't mind switching out my tank, but don't tell me that you're going to do it and then not.
In the end, I would definitely dive St Lucia again, but not with this operator.
