Traveling by myself I only treat myself to a fine dining experience once on any given trip. Grand Case seemed like the place for this according to everything I read. In fact, the main street (lane, really) is truly restaurant row. And really good restaurants at that. I choose L’escapade based upon a recommendation from a local. Terrific view of water with bobbing anchored yachts and the lights of Anguilla in the distance. Warm service, good pace of meal (not rushed, but not French island time either).
I had a smoked mahi mahi carpaccio as an appetizer. Out of this world. The Caesar salad was good (could have had more lemon juice and home made croutons would have been nice). For main course I had panfried sea bass and shrimp over risotto with a vanilla sauce. It was really delicious. Vanilla sauces are tricky to pull off, but this was right on.
The prices are in euro’s, but they will convert euro to dollar at a 1:1 rate if you pay cash. Otherwise, the charge goes through as euros. My dinner including a €15 glass of wine and an 18% tip was €95. Would recommend.
