My husband and I went to Nail Bay again in September this past year and it was wonderful. We stayed in a different villa this time, Drake's Hideout, which is one of the best values at Nail Bay. It has everything you could need, kitchen, king size bed, a/c, grill, washer/dryer, patio and a pool. We enjoyed this villa much more than the one at the Island Time Village because it was much more private, closer to the beach and you had your own pool.
We caught a flight by air sunshine from Puerto Rico to Virgin Gorda but would never do it again. Our flight was delayed several hours and we were told by a local that it happens all the time. They wait until there are enough people to fill the plane. So, if a couple of people book a 2:00 flight and a couple of people book the 5:30, then you will all be sitting around until 5:30. Also, it was supposed to be a non-stop flight to VG, but we stopped at some other island along the way to drop some people off and nobody ever informed us of that. It was weird, and not worth the extra money.
This year we also discovered a grocery store in Tortola where you can go to their website prior to your trip, pick out all the food/drinks you want and they will bring it over to Virgin Gorda and put your groceries away in your villa at no extra charge. It was wonderful to arrive, walk in our villa and already have all our food and drinks put away. The staff at Nail Bay help make this happen. The website is, rtwbvi.com.
A car is pretty much a must here and Mahogany car rentals is wonderful. they will meet you at the airport/ferry with the car.
Nail Bay was once again a fabulous resort with impeccable service. The individual cleaning your room will ask you when is the best time for them to come so they don't disturb your privacy. Rooms are always spotless and you get fresh beach towels every day.
Restaurant is wonderful. The spa needs some work.
Our only complaint is the steep price increase this year. (ie - Drake's hideout went from $150 a night to $225 a night, which is a crazy price increase at anytime but especially during a crappy economy.) However, it is a wonderfully peaceful place and you should probably go now before all the new development starts. They're supposedly building a hotel and a massive dock slip there. so, I'm guessing before too long it will not be quite the peaceful, private place that is now.
