I spent two and a half weeks at Neptune's Treasure and had a very relaxing time. While I was there, it had a lovely beach - sometimes this is not the case depending on the weather but just a short walk to the west there are beaches you only see in magazines. There are no lounge chairs at Neptune's Treasure, however. This is a huge oversight as there is no way to enjoy the beach if you don't like to lay on the sand - which I don't.
It was almost the off-season so the first week I was the only guest at the hotel. This had it's benefits and drawbacks. It was so peaceful and the staff were very attentive. The Soares family are wonderful people and very friendly. One of the family members, Pam, has a wonderful little bakery at the back of the property and she makes the best brownies I have had in a long time. She also makes a great lunch. The drawback was that, for the first week I was there, there was no one to socialize with and the restaurant closed for dinner due to no bookings.
The rooms are clean and the bed was comfortable. I would have liked fatter, softer pillows and it would be nice if the bed was secured to the wall or on a box like most hotels because, as it was the only place to sit with my feet up, I sat there a lot at night to read and the bed kept sliding away from the wall. Also, it would have been nice if the rooms had a blowdryer, a flashlight, and an umbrella provided (as I found at Sebastian's on the Beach when I went there for the rest of my holiday).
The one huge drawback to the property is that there is no common lounging area so if it rains (and it did a LOT while I was there) you are pretty much confined to your room. The bar area only seats about 6 and it's not that comfortable to be perched on a bar stool for hours (my feet swell). If anyone has ever been to Fischer's Cove on Virgin Gorda, you will know how wonderful it is to have the covered, open-air lounge area with comfy chairs, rocking chairs, tables to play cards or use your computer at. When I stayed there, we went every evening to the lounge to have a drink and read or just talk. It really enhanced our stay at Fischers and I think if they had one at Neptune's Treasure my stay would have been even more enjoyable than it was.
The internet was intermittent and extremely slow. I write a blog and when posting pictures, it could take up to two hours to load 3 photos onto the blog site. Usually it takes about 30 seconds.
Another drawback is that their beach bar has been closed for some time and was while I was there. It would have made a much nicer gathering place for our happy hour with the cruisers and guests that were there the second week of my stay.
I would stay there again but would love it if they added some of the things I have mentioned here. It would turn a lovely place into a first-rate place to stay on the island.
