I went on a Celebrity Cruise on November 7, 2005. I did the Stingray City tour in the morning with Soto Cruise. BEST THING TO DO ON GRAND CAYMAN.

Later in the afternoon, my husband and I and two other couples negotiated a tour of the island with one of the local tour companies advertising on the pier when we disembarked the cruise ship. The tour guide wanted $20 per person. We offered $10. She accepted. We went to Hell, the Rum Factory, Turtle Farm, and stopped by the gingerbread house, 7-mile beach, and the govenor's house.

For $10, Hell was worth seeing. I mailed a postcard. Our tour guide left us in Hell, and went down the road to pick up her pregnant daughter because the daughter had a doctor's appointment. A thought in everyone's mind was maybe we were left in Hell.

She did return and pick us up. I think if I had spent the $99 the cruise was charging for the tour and Stingray city, I would have been disappointed.

Instead my whole day cost $45 and I feel like I saw a great deal of the island. Also I was able to go to the rum factory...have a few shots, try some cakes, and buy several cakes as gifts.

Hell is nice to see but not necessarily a must on the excursion agenda. I put above average because it was a fun, quirky, out-of-the way place to visit but I don't think I would invest a lot of time or money in trying to see Hell.

If you have to make choices, Stingray city is worth the time and the money.

I agree with the others: not a bad experience, touristy, nothing to do other than look at black rocks, take pictures of black rocks and then send postcards of black rocks. (Note: of the 6 postcards I sent from Hell, only 3 made it.) Worth the short trip just for kicks and it's fun to say you've "been there, done that" the next time someone tells you to go to Hell.

My visit to hell was not the most exciting thing i did in grand cayman but it was not the most boring either. Hell needs something more to attract more visitors but it is an interesting place to visit. If you're in grand cayman go visit hell yourself because no review can account for the place, as if u see it for yourself with your own eyes.

Hell is a very beautiful place. Hell, is an area of Grand Cayman that was once under water. The limestone deposits are from the coral that had inhabited that area. A bacteria attacks the dead coral (limestone) and turns it black. So, what one sees is lots of black jagged rocks that kind of look like brimstone. In the distance the Mangrove trees have started to take over the area about 200-300 yards away from the Hell stone. Very Pretty and unique. If you visit Grand Cayman go to Hell. haha
