“Awesomely affordable”

Having just popped in from a cruise ship we wanted some fast, quality diving. We walked down the street having heard of Eden Rock. We wanted to do a boat but they weren't going out that day. Not knowing the area we thought we were screwed. As it turned out 400 yards off the patio was some of the best shore diving that my dive buddy or I had ever done. We had most of our equipment except for weights and tanks. My buddy needed a regulator and off we went. Both of his regulators failed in under 10 minutes. He described it as sucking on a slurpee.... We got him outfitted with a new rig and we had some of the best shore diving we've ever done! Get one of those laminated maps inside the dive shop and have some fun. It's shallow so you can stay down forever, pop up, grab another tank and get right back after it again. Other than the crappy regulators they were very helpful and fun to chat with. This was a great, cheap dive.

“disgusting dive gear”

We rented 4 sets of snorkel gear from Eden Rock Dive Shop. The gear was disgusting. The snorkels had loads of creamy white slime in them, I can only assume it was months worth of spit residue. One of the masks they gave us was broken--a lens was loose and it leaked--making it useless. We were already back at our hotel when we noticed the problems, so we just rented gear from the dive supply shop near out hotel. (Diver's Supply, just north of the Marriott resort on the opposite side of the road.) The staff at that store was very helpful and their gear was clean.

When we returned the gear to Eden at 9:15 am, they said we were late and would be charged for an additional day (even though we rented the gear at 1pm, they said it needed to be back by 9am). They tried to charge us an additional day just because we returned the gear 15 minutes past their desired return time.

From the disgusting, shoddy gear, to the rude, unkempt staff there, Eden was extremely disappointing and gross.

Rent your gear elsewhere (there's dive shops everywhere on GC) and just snorkel at Cheeseburger Reef directly behind Burger King. It's a bit better than Eden Reef anyway. Cemetery is alos a nice, shallower dive where you can easily get closer views of the reef.

Whether you're in Grand Cayman for a week or just visiting George Town for the day on a cruise ship, you must dive Eden Rock Dive Center (shore dive). If you walk from downtown George Town make sure you continue past Paradise Bar/Eden Rock by 100m. Eden Rock Dive Center offers boat dives, a great dive shop, lockers and a friendly knowledgible staff.

If you need an exciting dive, you won't believe that you will find it just off shore. The Devils Grotto dive area offers the coolest underwater swim-throughs and cave. Even in January, I saw large schools of jacks, tangs, barracudas, a nurse shark and the largest parrotfish I ever saw. In the swim-throughs there were a couple of fairly large grouper too.

My girlfriend and I did our 4 referral dives for PADI certification with Steve from Eden Rock. We were picked up and dropped off from our seven mile beach location both days. I think the location is perfect place to learn diving with two reefs at the centers doortstep. Additionally we did a lot of rate shopping and found the erferral dives to be about $30-60 dollars cheaper than most dive centers on the island. We all felt that there other prices were very competitive. Would highlt recommend them to anyone.

“Great snorkeling, and free”

As budget cruisers, we were thrilled to find such a friendly shop which allows folks to snorkel from their patio for free. Eden Rock is always a highlight of our limited time in Georgetown, much more fun than an endless round of shops!
