The word that comes to mind to describe this vacation is "relaxation." The location that the condo is situated on is perfect for such a vacation since it is in the northern section of SMB and close enough to everything (i.e., grocery stores and restaurants)but far enough that you can get away from the noise and the crowd. Do note that when I say close to things, I do mean with a car as it is brutally hot to walk to the grocery store and the restaurants are at least 5 minutes driving distance. The furthest restaurants we drove to in Georgetown took about 15 minutes, unless the ships are in the town then drive would probably take longer. But before I digress further, here is my review of the condo:

CONDO:
We stayed in condo unit #1, which is a garden view unit on the ground floor, so we were only 20 steps away from the beach and had easy access for when we needed more drinks/food from the condo. The laundry room is about 3 doors down from our unit, and the manager's unit is right next to ours. The kitchen was FULLY EQUIPPED. We were truly surprised by things that we found. It was better stocked than my own kitchen! There is a dining room and a living room with a flat screen TV. There is also a small patio where we ate most of our breakfasts and lunches. The two bedrooms are cozy and clean and come with plenty of storage space. Each bedroom has its own bathroom. Our bedroom had a comfortable queen size bed and the other room had two twin beds that we pushed together to make one bigger bed. My sister in law commented that it was actually very comfortable. The daily maid service (except Sundays) was great. They are sweet women and so nice. Lisa, the manager, was so helpful that we dubbed her our "savior" half the time. We were in her office quite frequently to ask for directions to restaurants that were off the beaten path. Thanks Lisa!

BEACH:
WOW! That's about the best way I can describe this beach. Water is amazingly calm and crystal clear. Turquoise as far as your eyes can see and also teeming with the greatest marine life. We went to cemetery reef to compare and honestly, you don't need to bother with the walk. The beach at C.C. is comparable if not better than the cemetery reef snorkeling. Plenty of palapas and beach chairs to go around. Pool is small but clean and nice. We never used it since the beach was too amazing to pass up.

MISCELLANEOUS:
If you're craving local food, there are plenty of eateries to visit that won't cost you an arm and a leg. We were constantly at Luz's restaurant (Local/Hondurian) and Dada's (Filipino Cuisine). Other places we tried that were also just as delicious: Champion House II (local), Coconut Joe's (try mahi-mahi sandwhich), Esso gas station for the meat patties, and Antica Gelataria for the gelato. We were also fortunate that Chef John cooked at the C.C. for one night and the ribs and chicken and potato salad was to die for! Yum! If she's not there when you're staying there, she's usually stationed at the West Bay Public Beach, about 5 minutes drive from C.C.

Much thanks to Melinda, the condo owner. She is helpful and pleasurable to work with. Lisa, thank you for your patience with us and for all your help as well. To the staff of C.C., thank you for making our stay memorable. Hopefully we will see you soon.

This was our first visit to Grand Cayman, so not wanting to rely on just our own research, we used a travel agency (Caradonna- thanks Shelley!) and after considering a few other options along Seven Mile Beach, we decided on these condos, and are very pleased we did so. This place is perfect for a family, especially those who prefer a stay at the quieter part of SMB. In addition to the gorgeous beach, there is a nice pool. The sea is teeming with life, you can see fish just as soon as you wade in. There are several cabanas on the beach and plenty of chairs and lounge chairs. The units and grounds are kept very clean and nice. The kitchen has all the pots and pans and utensils you might need to prepare full meals. We enjoyed the daily visits by the maid, not that lots of cleaning was needed but because our daughter loved chatting with her. The manager, Lisa, was very nice and helpful. We were also lucky to have a beach bbq happening on one of the nights during our stay- it was lovely hanging out at the beach all evening, having some nice locally made food, taking a zillion pictures of the sunset, and watching our daughter doze off on the hammock at the beach. Being usually happy to walk or take public transportation everywhere, and underestimating the intensity of the heat, I had initially thought we could walk to the food store (what was I thinking?) But one does need a car to do grocery shopping. We did not need a car every day, just rented it for the days we wanted to do excursions and shopping, and the days we did rent, Andy's Car Rental picked us up and dropped us off. Other businesses (Soto's Stingray City Cruise, for example, and some dive ops) also do pick ups, so keep this in mind if you'd rather not drive to everything. Also there's a public bus stop just outside the Condos, and they seem to be pretty frequent, so for 4 or 2 Cayman dollars, you can get to West Bay or Georgetown (and if you tell the driver where you want to go they'll drop you off just at the right spot). We had a wonderful time at the CCC and wished we could've stayed a little longer.

Stayed in unit 20. Incredible view from the balcony. Roomy, comfortable bedrooms. Very serviceable kitchen. Stayed 7 nights, and having this as a home base helped make it the trip of a lifetime. The staff was very friendly; the pool was fantastic; using the cabanas daily was useful; the beach area and snorkeling just off it was the best for miles around. The water was warm, and the drinks were cold- both appreciated, as we are from Wisconsin.

We stayed at the Christopher Columbus Condos Aug 1-6, and can do nothing but rave about the wonderful experience we had. We stayed in Unit 21 which was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. It was a 3 bedroom-2nd floor- which accommodated our family with plenty of space--we had all 3 adult children with us ages 26, 23, and 19 (which hasn't happened in several years so we really wanted everything to be perfect). The view from the room was spectacular and the beach was magnificent. We found the best snorkeling right in front of the hotel and just north by Cemetary Reef. The thatched huts on the beach were great, and there were plenty of chairs.

We did rent a car which is a necessity--we got the best deal from Budget. Dinners are expensive--but we were prepared for this. Lunch is much more reasonable. We had lunch out at Casanova's (highly recommened) and the Tiki Bar at the Cracked Conch, which had a good variety lunch menu and a wonderful view. Our best dinner was at Restaurante Pappagallo. We also brought dinner in to the condo a few nights including Chicken Chicken and Papa John's Pizza.

We visited the Turtle Farm and enjoyed it. We all had fun holding the turtles. I would recommend it once just to have the experience. Be aware of the cruise ship schedules as Georgetown can get crowded when the ships are docked. We went shopping on a day with only one cruse ship, so the crowds were not bad. All you really want to do is get back to that beautiful beach. We snorkeled, we read, we relaxed, we napped--it was great. The sunsets were so beautiful.

We are home now and are yearning for our cereal breakfasts on our balcony, taking in that spectacular view. We highly recommend the Christopher Columbus to anyone visiting the island just looking for some peaceful time away.

What we were looking for was a beautiful location that was not overrun by people, and did this place ever fit the bill. We met so many friendly folks and their families, but at no time did it ever seem crowded. When we headed out to the beach or the pool in the morning, it felt like we had the place to ourselves.
The condo itself (#27) was nicely appointed, featuring all of the comforts of home. The three big bedrooms (two with a King-sized bed) accomodated us perfectly (two adults and a child), but could easily have handled more people.
We split our time by the pool and on the beach, with going into George Town and just touring the island. Even if you are not a snorkeler, you would still have a ball just relaxing by water, which was calm and bluer than blue.
Activities in town included some excellent shopping and a semi-submersible submarine (Atlantis), which allowed you to view a reef and the local sealife. Perfect for kids and adults.
Chicken Chicken was a nice (and low-cost) choice for a meal. It is located about 2 miles away (a rental car is not just convenient, but necessary).
The staff at the CC were friendly and helpful. It does feel like a big family. So sad to leave.
