Cayman Condos - We'll Definitely Be Brac

We spent 9 nights at Cayman Breakers and had an absolutely fabulous relaxing time. This is a very nice, well stocked and clean condo. When we arrived we were greeted by Nina who books and manages the condos. She was always there to help us with anything we needed. There were even a couple beer in the fridge from the guests before us so when we left we made sure to do the same for the next guests. This Island is like taking a step back in time. On the 13 or so miles of road on each side of the brac (Cayman Condos is on the south side) you might meet up with 3-4 cars the entire way. The one surprise was grocery shopping and we read about it in advance and it was still surprising to find no fresh meat for barbequing of any sort. There was an abundance of frozen pork chops, pork steak, chicken pieces, ox tail and frozen dinners. We are not big on eating in restaurants or night life so nwxt time we visit we'll stop on Grand Cayman for a while first and pack a cooler of the fish and meat we want to cook on Cayman Brac. Coming from the west coast of Canada - packing a cooler all the way from here would be risky. The people we met on Cayman Brac were friendly and very helpful. Go into Native Island Made and talk to Tenison Scott - hopefully he'll tell you a story or two of his. We took a day trip over to Little Cayman and rented a car - there is only one car rental place on Little Cayman - and we drove the entire Island stopping to snorkel at Point of Sand - it has fabulous snorkelling and we'd do that again next time too. We will definitely be back to Cayman Brac again. It's just the place we needed to be at and we felt our shoulders drop to where they should be within the first day... ahhhhhh! Cayman Breakers Condos is a great home away from home and Cayman Brac is a great Island to visit. Chris & Bruce - Qualicum Beach BC CANADA

Cayman Breakers was a great place to stay. It was very clean and nicely decorated with all the comforts of home. It was a very quiet place to stay. The pool area and hammocks were welcomed after a day of diving. Nina provided excellent restaurant tips, namely asking for the bar menu at the dive resorts. Since all food is barged in, food and drinks are quite expensive. Shopping is very limited. The trip to the parrot preserve and lighthouse was disappointing. A great place to relax and dive....

My whole family (11 of us in 3 condos) stayed at the Cayman Breakers condos in Cayman Brac for a week in mid-July (just between Hurricanes Dennis and Emily). The complex is beautifully maintained, very clean and the owners, Robert and Nina are friendly and helpful. With 11 of us, 9 old enough to dive, dive boats that operate on a fixed schedule don't interest us. We're on vacation - we don't want to have to make someone else's timetable. Nina gave us a list of shore dives and directions to each. The dive operators will tell you there is no good shore diving, they're wrong. Bert's Boulders was our favorite dive, easy entry down a boat ramp and the corals were beautiful.
The only drawback was eating out. Restaurant choices are very limited. We plan to eat breakfast and lunch in the condo and usually went out for dinner each night. Aunt Sha's had great local food (the conch fritters are the best I've ever had), but you had to fight off the flies. Captain's Table was fantastic. The restaurant at the Divi hotel had a decent buffet, but it was $38/person with the only seafood on the buffet being fried red snapper fingers and a bit of smoked salmon. Definitely overpriced! Best grocery store was Tibbets at the marketplace by the airport.
All in all, it was a great week on a beautiful island. The island is quiet, no real shopping or night life, but a perfect family place. We rode bikes, provided by the complex, to the Great Cave to look at the bats, hiked to the cliffs and collected more beautiful shells than we've ever seen just walking down the beach. We will definitely be back and we'll be staying at the Cayman Breakers.

Our first trip to the Cayman Brac was what everyone promised, relaxing and quiet. We stayed at the Cayman Breakers, they are time share condo's on the water that you can rent from the property managers Nina and Robert Banks. These Condos are immaculent with everything you need. We had a 2 bedroom 2 bath. They are very comfortable and well decorated. On Grand Cayman you would spend at least $400/night to stay at a place like this. We enjoyed the pool that overlooks the water, lazed around in the hammocks in the gazebo poolside and went bike riding to the caves. You can really see the stars at night, we had some great walks. The island is very quiet. You need to rent a car as everything is spread out. Our favorite food was the Conch Fritters at Aunt Shas Restaurant and the homemade ice cream at Blackies Drive Thru. If you are looking for homegrown produce and fresh Fillet Steaks, you won't find them on the island. Everything is brought in. There is no starbucks. Bring your own coffee beans. The best chocolate chip cookies(hot out of the oven) and pizza are at the marketplace near the airport. If you snorkel or dive you will love the Brac. We saw amazing fish, stingrays, turtles, eels, squid...it was amazing to see God's creation. We love the people on the island. It is very safe and beautiful. The best beach for building Sand Castles is the Public Beach...it isn't very public often we were the only ones there. The best spot for snorkelling was the boat launch off of Kirkconnell. Bring your resort wear with you, there is very limited shopping on the island. The Brac Reef Resort is a nice place to try a tropical drink at the poolside bar, they have great food that is quite reasonable.

If your planning a vacation stay on the Brac, definately check the Cayman Breakers Condominiums, located on the South side, secluded East end of Cayman Brac. Not only do you get the Ocean Front views, but the awesome bluff towering over you as your back drop!!! This is the only place with the bluff view. WE loved it here and will be back!! The managers are just great with lots of information about the islands hot spots! The booklet came in handy in our unit to show us where to shore dive, eat out, etc. Far the best place to stay and the least expensive. Luxury at affordable prices!
