We chose Nisbet because we had read how great the staff is and the people on Nevis in general. Sounded like a great place.

IT LIVES UP TO IT'S REPUTATION!!!

We had a very very relaxing vacation. The staff is kind, helpful and very welcoming. They also work very hard, long hours.

The beach is windy, but very pleasant. It's also very beautiful. We brought water shoes and so we could easily walk on the bit of rocky area in the water. The beach is sandy and easy to walk on.

The food is great--tea and dinner are standouts.

There are no bugs here. We were worried about being in a cottage on ground level. It's too breezy for mosquitoes. There were a few tiny red ants, but they seemed to be looking for water in the bathroom.

We stayed in a superior cottage(least expensive). They are very nice--the only ones with a screened-in porch.

The maid service is wonderful. They provided clean towels twice a day, and straightened up the room twice a day.

The other guests were over fifty, honeymooners, and families with children, or teenage girls.

We went on a snorkeling trip with Barbara and Andre at Oualie Beach. I would recommend this activity.

We are planning to return to Nevis.

My husband and I just got married and he surprised me with a trip to Nisbet Plantation in Nevis. We were both pleaseantly surprised with this resort.
One of the things we loved the most was how peaceful and relaxing it is. After months of hectic planning this was the perfect getaway to unwind. It is very windy but the sound of the breeze and the ocean definitely makes it worth it. Lying by the pool in the sun with the warm breeze was one of our favorite things to do.
The staff is very friendly and go out of their way to accomodate you.
We didn't want a noisy place with a million people around us so Nisbet was the perfect spot. I really appreciated the afternoon tea they offered. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The massages were so relaxing that I even fell asleep..
Overall, I would recommend this resort to anyone who doesn't like cookie-cutter vacations with a million things you feel like you have to do. Rather, it is the perfect honeymoon spot to simply relax and spend time with your spouse.

We found Nisbet to be perfectly "nice", but given the hype on this website and the tripadvisor ranking of best luxury resort in the entire carribean, we were let down. The grounds are peaceful and the vistas are grand, but the resort has a little bit of a parched campground feel--not a luxe resort feel. For example--the snorkeling gear for guest use is tired and the tennis rackets to borrow were handed to us with broken strings and "dead" balls that looked a few years old. The food was decent, but very predictable--meals felt catered. The spa is quiet and nicely appointed, but the massage was mediocre. The staff are nice, but not unusually so for such an expensive accomodation. I know this is silly, but even the resort signage isn't quite "there"-- it's moulded plastic that's meant to look like carved and painted wood and the whites are going a bit gray. Clearly a lot of people return year after year--we heard many hearty welcomes to returning families. I must say I can't see going back again and again. You'll probably enjoy your stay more if you don't fall in love before you meet your date.

My husband and I just got back from the Nisbet Plantation and thought it was one of the nicest resorts we have been in at the Carribean.
The staff are genuinely friendly and go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need. Special mention to Caddy, the great bartender, Steven, and our favorite lady, Violet. They were great!
Food was excellent!
The only thing we did not like were the beaches on Nevis. They are windy and the water is cloudy. Not good for much more than a dip. However, if you are looking to relax, lie in the sun, and be treated royally, this is the place to be!

“A Great Plantation Hotel/\Boutique Resort”

Nisbet Plantation Beach Club

We loved Nisbet.

- Key staff members make you feel at home and are genuinely concerned about your welfare and enjoyment. They will always remember your name and your preferences. These are the people who give the place its personality. If you visit, you will understand who these people are within a couple of days.

- Supporting Staff members generally do their job consistently and with pride. Overall they got the little things right. We found only one exception: a waitress we had for dinner twice quite rudely tried to rush us through dinner..and we are fast eaters! We reported this before we left are and we are confident that Nisbet will address the performance of this one staff member. Nisbet did not become like it is without correcting problems as they were reported or detected. It was just this one person was so out of character with everyone else at Nisbet.

- Our room was very good. In addition to a nice west indies feel, it had a screened in porch as well as a patio,, both with furniture.. The bathrooms were nice and had well selected amenities. The only let down for us was the bed. We prefer a plush pillowtop mattress. The room had a rather firm unconforming mattress and very average pillows. When we return to Nisbet (and we will return), we hope the beds will be upgraded. (other details: coffee maker, puerto rican coffee, english tea in room; also minibar/fridge, safe with key lock). Effectice AC if needed. Lovered windows in main room that amazingly closed so effectively that they made the room nicely dark for sleeping),

- Housekeeping did a very good job cleaning and refreshing our cottage. They did miss turn-down a couple of times but that was not a big deal to us since we had fresh towels etc.

- Dining was generally very good to excellent on all counts (food and service except for the one person mentioned above). Breakfasts had a good number of menu selections as well as a buffet of items. Lunch was good as well. However dining in the great house was the best. due to the atmosphere and the very nice entrees. If you are a guest on thursdays, dinner is held at the beach side restaurant where they grill out fish, chicken, and beef. This was our least favorite meal because we are not "buffett" people and all the items excepted for the grilled food was buffet. The grilled food was ok but paled in comparison to the food served in the great house.

- The guests we met were "real people" :friendly, laid back, diverse and ."Authentic." Some were "return" guests.

- The grounds are pretty with an "avenue of palms" leading from the great house down a long gradual slope to the beach. You will enjoy the view from the Great House's Tea Patio (tea offered 3:30-4:30

- The beach from what we saw might be one of the most attractive on Nevis. It is well maintained by Nisbet Staff. You will read in this and probably other reviews that the beach is WINDY! And yes it is but for us, this was just not an issue. In fact, the wind during the day kept us comfortable for several hours at a time in the sun. We found sitting at the back of the beach helped somewhat. Where the wind was more of a factor was the evening BBQ since it seemed to really pick up more at night. So as far as wind, expect anything from a steady to stiff breeze to a wind. The wind decreases as you move up the lawn away from the beach with it being more of a soft breeze at your cottage.

- The fitness room has one treadmill, one elliptical, and one bike. It also has some free weights. Generally it was empty when we went to use it but a couple of times, others arrived while we were using the equipment but left rather than wait. Even though they don't have a lot of equipment, we did not experience problems with availability. The equipment is relatively new and very good quality.

- Check In/Check Out: Friendly and professional. You are given your choice of rum punch or non-alcoholic punch. Our room was not ready but we arrived early (around 2:30) but we waited only 1/2 hour. The manager of hotel actually intercepted us on the grounds after checkin and reassured us that our room would be ready by checkin...He just did not have to do that..but that is just the conscientious nature we found present in the staff we encountered.

- We rented a car for our stay but would have been happy just relaxing and decompressing at Nisbet, Since Nevis is small, you can see what there is to see in a day or two.

- The bottom line: The resort is probably not for people looking for a desintation resort with every amenity and a guest experience delivered in a cookie cutter. formal, and in an obligatory way. It is not for people looking for jet skis, floating playgrounds and row after row of chaise lounges. This place IS for people who want a balance or some activity and some peace, who envoy some privacy without being totally anonymous, who can enjoy and appreciate those in a sometimes thankless jobs who are able to subtlely give a place a personality by treating guests warmly. or with pride in their work.
