My wife and I went the the Mount Nevis Hotel and Beach Club for our honeymoon and had the most wonderful time. We were considering going to an all-inclusive and just lounging around, but we decided to be more adventurous and go somewhere more remote. When we got to the Mount Nevis Hotel we knew we had made the absolute best choice. The hotel staff is wonderfully friendly, the view is gorgeous, and the hotel is only a 20 minute walk (5 minute drive) from Lovers' Beach, the best beach on the island (trust us, we drove around and visited popular and not so popular beaches, Lovers' Beach is the best - very romantic, very secluded). There are a few aspects which we found particularly excellent. First of all, the rooms are wonderful. They're clean, well-adorned, and have full kitchens! Some rooms face the ocean. Those that don't may come with a hot tub. We had a room facing the ocean and would recommend this, as the view is extremely calming. Also, the sun sets over the ocean every evening and rooms facing that direction have beautiful views of this.
The hotel staff is also extremely pleasant. We really enjoyed talking to them and getting to know various people at the hotel. We went during the summer months (low season for Nevis and St. Kitts) and, things being slower during these months, it was very peaceful. Patricia was the assistant manager at the hotel when we went there and she made sure that we were having a good time. She was available to answer any questions we had and gave us several excellent dinner recommendations. We stayed for seven nights and had several excellent dinners by her recommendation.
We went around to several of the other hotels and resorts and at each one we just gasped: Thank goodness we stayed at the Mount Nevis Hotel! None of the others had the charm or tranquility that the Mount Nevis had. We hung around the Four Seasons for a little while and found it to be a bit pretentious. The beach was crowded and the place generally lacked any romantic feeling. There was nothing adventurous about it.
**IMPORTANT NOTE: When we stayed at the Mount Nevis we paid for a package with a rental car. If you are looking to move around the island and be adventurous then we HIGHLY recommend this option. This allowed us to go to some of the more amazing island locations and restaurants. Otherwise transportation is readily provided by hotel taxis.
Overall, an excellent experience. We definitely plan on going back to Nevis and won't think twice about where to stay.

We stayed at the Mount Nevis for 5 days in July. It is perfect for a quiet chillout holiday. We were given an upgrade to a superior suite at no extra cost and it is huge with lounge area, bedroom area and kitchenette. The corner balcony is large and we were happy to spend afternoons there lazing and admiring the view. The views from the property are truly spectacular.
The food is very good although it has to be said that on a Friday and Saturday the menu consisted of shrimps and shrimps only done in different ways for starters and main course. We were happy to have shrimps on the Friday an on the Saturday the owner Adly Meguid drove us to Pizza Beach which he also owns and picked us up there later. The food there was very good too.
We found the staff very friendly and eager to please. The large suite was always very clean and free from insects.
One attraction just along the estate driveway is the Cat Ghaut golf course. The course is very informal and the owners Roger and his wife will come out to chat to you. It is not to be compared to the Four Seasons but it is a very pleasant way to pass a couple of hours.
All in all this is a great place for a quiet holiday

Oh my goodness words can not explain how beautiful this place was, they treated my husband and I, like we was royalty.. it was very quiet and relaxing, they catered to you hand and foot, if you did not like what was on the menu the chef will cook you what ever you want. The food was excellent breafast, lunch, and dinner, and the drinks where out of this world. I would highly reccommend this resort to everyone...you will not be disapointed.

  • Liked — It was so relaxing, and they catered to you hand and foot.
  • Disliked — Everything was perfect!!!!!! No complaints..

I just had the most wonderful experience at the Mount Nevis Hotel. If you are looking for a get away with a place to relax and enjoy the cool breeze from the lush green trees that lines the road and surrounding areas of the hotel, then you must select Mount Nevis Hotel as your escape choice. We chose Mount Nevis as our reception site as it was close to the Cottle Church. We are so glad that we did - it was sight unseen. However, we contacted the hotel via the 800 number and booked our arrangements for the hotel stay. Our guests flew in from NY and also stayed at the hotel. There was an all around agreement that Mount Nevis Hotel was great. The staff were professional, courteous and attentive to our needs. We were more than pleased with the rooms which were cleaned with fresh flowers daily. The food and drinks - delicious .The hotel grounds gives you a real sense of being in the tropics wth the manicured grass and array of vibrant flowers. The picturesque view of Nevis's sister island St. Kitts is amazing. The bad thing was having to leave to return to real life. It is truly a place to escape.....................

  • Liked — Rooms were great and the staff provided excellent service.
  • Disliked — Nothing...... It had what we needed.

Great place. Only a few minutes from the airport. We were worried about being bothered by plane noise, but that was not the case whatsoever. Quaint drive up to the hotel through savannah-like habitat riddled with monkeys, goats, cows, donkeys, etc. The view from the hotel is wonderful, as everyone else has noted. Rooms are nice and I would rate them a step above many of the places we have stayed in region. Nice decks to sit on and watch the world go by.

Staff are attentive and responsive. We had some minor maintenance issues in our room that were fixed immediately. The restaurant food can be very good or occassionally average. Don't know if it was us or perhaps a change in the cook. As in many locations, dinner is served later than in the US (6:30) and takes a bit longer to be prepared. Given the atmosphere, not a problem.

Front desk will arrange a car rental or other activities. They were very helpful in this regards and were able to provide us with the things we requested.

May is a very slow month on Nevis, which was great for us, but may not suit people looking for lots of people, activity, etc. Often, we were one of only a few families at dinner wherever we went.

Drivers are insane and unsafe on the island, so be prepared for that if you are driving. They have no concept of staying in their lane, drive at excessive speeds, and are fairly aggressive. I would not consider doing a lot of cycling on the road, but mtb'g opportunities exist and I found them to be fun.

Recommend Coconuts Restaurant. Great food and atmosphere. Sunshines was fine for local cuisine on the beach in an informal atmosphere. Oualie Beach was the best for us, given our small child. Calm waters and quite atmosphere. Oualie Beach Restaurant was above average for the island. Kid friendly island.

The perimeter road around Nevis is not paved completely. There is a significant stretch on the southwest to northwest portion that is under construction. It's rough going. If renting a car, recommend small SUV as opposed to a car. A car will not withstand very well the roads of Nevis.

Population in general was very friendly. Avoid driving through downtown if you can, as it is narrow and crowded. There is a by-pass around downtown that we found to be very useful.

This is not a built-up, fast-paced location, so high maintenance folks will likely prefer St. Kitts.
